Mane wins CAF African player of the year award

Thoroughly deserved, he's been absolutely sensational and long may it continue, I was looking through player stats comparing them with one another on the offal site last night, Mane's are by far the best of all our forwards and he has some fierce competition

Congratulations to Sadio - hardly a surprise.

On the 5th of October he'd outscored Salah & Firmino combined in the calendar year - 29 v 27 goals. 4th in the balloon door and got the nod off Messi - as did Salah as the best player in the world before him.

Think if we looked back through the record he's scored more vital goals too. Winning the penalty for Salah in the final. An absolutely top year for him and no contest in the CAF African player of the year. Loved his goal v Bayern.

Does he have his own epic chant/song yet ?

Aside from Barca at Anfield, his goal at Bayern was my favourite last season. What a player.

We are very lucky to have him, he's such a humble guy, a brilliant team player with an amazing work and team ethic who has worked his balls off to improve and will no doubt continue to. I also love the work he does for his people back home, “Why would I want 10 Ferraris, 20 diamond watches, or two planes? What will these objects do for me and for the world? “I was hungry, and I had to work in the field; I survived hard times, played football barefooted, I did not have an education and many other things, but today with what I win thanks to football, I can help my people.“ An absolutely wonderful player and person, like so many of our others
