Guardiola has been looking at options, with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland, 20, at the top of the list of potential targets.

However, Guardiola feels the fees currently being quoted are too high.

"I don't know what is going to happen but at these prices we are not going to buy any striker," he said.

"It's impossible. We cannot afford it. All the clubs are struggling financially, us as well.

He really is a slimey little man.. they cant afford it.. yet paid 65 million and 40+ million for 2 defenders in the summer.
    There we go. Nailed on.

In Pep defence he isnt going to come out and say he is buying one.

Look at Ole he got all smug with Covid pretty much said to the media we'll be able to take advantage of it (virus/finances) made himself look daft when Dortmund redused to cave in.

City will buy its obvious and its likely the deal is pretty much done they just not say anything whilst season is ongoing.

The problem with that is a) It makes him look like an even bigger d-head than he already is, but also b) everybody knows that he/Man City effectively have unlimited resources at their disposal, so it's not like there is any point them doing what other clubs do where they plead poverty in an attempt to not have to pay a premium when buying players.

Its actually been Man-city/PSG /Chelsea/ Real Madrid that over the last 10/15 years have caused the gigantic increase in the prices of players. Then he has the gall to say the cant "afford" 125 million for Haaland.

You don’t need to tell me what a dickhead he is I know that, I mean you look at his man of the people badge he wears for the Catalina people he doesn’t seem to share those views with who is paying his wages.

As I said he will buy and it’s probably done now but he won’t say that to the media whilst he needs these players this season.

Pep isn’t speaking to the likes of us he is talking to the media who are not stupid let’s be honest but they don’t question him or his club on anything really if we can work him out on a fans forum I’m sure these people can but £££££££ helps to keep their mouths shut.

Apparently Guardiola has spent around €950m during his time at Man City, but according to him they are too poor to buy a replacement for Aguero.

How he can keep a straight face when he comes out with such statements is anyone's guess.

He's an absolute clampet and that type of spending flies in the face of FFP, which regrettably seems to be being largely ignored by the corruptoloids in power.

Barcelona for example have debt of €1.173 billion, while their net debt is €488m, but are linked with Haaland. Would love to see FFP enforced properly and see some of the smug pricks associated with these clubs stomped into the dirt but it looks increasingly unlikely.

Football SHOULD be run in a sustainable way. When the bubble bursts or they have to change the landscape totally (European Super League) to satisfy their greed it will be a huge loss for so many fans.
