Agree wholeheartedly, but you know yourself that if we buy a whole bunch of young and "cheap" players, there's a ruckus from some quarters about a lack of expenditure!

The 'ruckus' occurs (and rightly so) when we only buy young and/or 'bargain bin' players (if we actually buy anyone at all) namely as a result of our owners being tight, and because they hope that a few of those players come good and can be sold for a tidy profit. This is compounded when it's obvious that we also, if not entirely need both proven quality and experienced heads, as shown perfectly with what happened when we bought VVD and Alisson.

I've always said that you need a mix of up and coming youngsters, good experienced players, a few bargain buys, and a few 'top tier' signings. Our issues stem from our owners reluctance to spend on all of those things, never mind that they tend to go with the cheapest/least guaranteed of those options i.e. up and coming youngsters (most of whom won't make the grade), and 'bargain bin' signings.

Let's hope there's a top player coming our way soon Noods. I certainly don't disagree with their arrival at all. Just a bit of a "sustainability" nut as you know.

Top Four would help, particularly after the financial strain the Pandemic put on a lot of clubs. Newcastle certainly gave us another 2% or whatever today.

Mentioning Tammy Abraham. Iheanacho would be a decent signing as well. hes really come on a bundle in the last season and half.

Almiron to Liverpool talk intensifying. Strong rumours of a £32 million plus add-ons deal being agreed in the next few days. Am told Saint-Maximin unlikely to follow at this stage.

    How exciting...

Seems like we're planning for the europa then.

Wijnaldum and Robertson came from relegated sides so I am open-minded enough. Could be one of the Edwards and co transfers, underlying data and all that jazz.

Do think the fee looks a bit hefty if it happens, but he's got Premier League experience, is of a good age (27) and his contract runs until 2024, so it's natural that Newcastle wouldn't let him go lightly.

I did read last week on a forum someone say he is joining us.

I thought it was a wind up but we must have some interest.

He is quick and looked good against West Ham but what is his position meant to be as im totally unsure ?!

Cue the lack of surprise. Everyone knew that would happen the day he arrived
