Sid knows he's crazy and he likes it. Balinkay
Milner has taken part in a full training session. So he will be pretty close - it's Milly after all.
Shaqiri described as "really good" by Klopp, which, reading between the lines, probably indicates being available for games in January.
Well we certainly needed something to happen here...
“ Jurgen Klopp has moved to strengthen Liverpool's backroom staff with the appointment of former Borussia Dortmund colleague Dr Andreas Schlumberger.
Schlumberger, who has joined from Bundesliga side Schalke, will augment the current staff in a new specialist position as head of recovery and performance.
The 54-year-old's role will sit between Andreas Kornmayer, the head of fitness and conditioning, and those of head of physio Lee Nobes and Dr Jim Moxon, the club doctor.
Schlumberger will support both sides of the fitness process in a position created to help injured players during the period where the medical and physio team have worked on their rehabilitation, but further attention is required before the player works with the performance team in preparation for being reintegrated with the first-team squad.
Klopp had wanted to bolster his backroom staff and, in Schlumberger, has recruited an expert used to the methods of the Reds boss having worked with him for three years at Dortmund. Schalke's ongoing financial problems meant they were open to the move.
Schlumberger had earlier worked with Nuremburg and the German national youth teams, and later moved to Bayern Munich and then Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Liverpool are mindful of the fact the coming seasons are likely to be affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and a mid-season World Cup in Qatar, and believe the expertise of Schlumberger in a newly-created position can strengthen their efforts to make players available.“
Sounds like good vision and planning to me.
I wonder how our backroom staff compare in size, wages and level of expertise to other clubs.
i always feel we are at an elite level. am I wrong? Don't know much about it. I think when new players arrive they are always pretty impressed by our backroom staff and facilities.
Klopp said last night "matips out for around 3 weeks"
Give him 2 months then...
Only got southampton to go before a 13 day break minus the fa cup game
Matip looks like he will never ever do a full season again sadly.
James Pearce believes Jota will be back around the end of January.

With Tsimikas back in training within the last few days (same for Matip) it leaves our injury list looking like this -
Virgil van Dijk - lengthy spell out
Joe Gomez - lengthy spell out
Naby Keita - estimated to be a few weeks
Diogo Jota - estimated end of January to mid-February.
If all goes well, we're a few weeks away from having all but two available. They're a huge miss of course and we will undoubtedly pick up more injuries along the way, but we are getting closer at least - much better than having ten missing.
