Theoretically I agree Sid. We just aren’t strong enough back there without him especially when the other CB’s tend to be made of glass. Gomez and Matip miss way too many games. No VVD and we will be missing Lovren of all people. Who thought that would ever happen?

...and to add on to this, we lost our best defender today in the 5th minute,.......we were without our number one goalie, .....and have an under-producing center forward to the point he was practically invisible all game, and yet we still bossed that game against the form team in the league (22 shots against their 11) in their own park, with them only managing to get a point courtesy of shoddy officiating.

His absence will be compounded if Alisson and Thiago are also missing.

Thiago was superb. His distribution made it a nightmare for the BS. If he is out that is a huge blow too.

If Gomez or Matip are out for a spell, Fabinho drops back and fills in. If Fabinho is out for a bit, we'll find an alternative using a utility player - that could be Milner, Henderson, even Wijnaldum.

Ideal? Absolutely not. But look at what the Mancs managed at different times with players like Fletcher or Phil Jones or John O'Shea.

We are still a boss outfit. We'll just have to use the squad intelligently, get the extra 1% wrung out of each individual, let anyone who doesn't buy into the process and togetherness drop down the pecking order and grind where needed until Alisson is back.

The toughest bit of the season will be to follow - the overlapping period of having Van Dijk out and Alisson out at the same time. We get through that as best we can and go from there.

We're perfectly capable (later in the season) of clocking up three-game or four-game winning streaks and keeping losses to a minimum. We're also perfectly capable of ugly wins and were robbed of one today.

We certainly aren't going to suddenly drop out of the Top Four unless we utterly capitulate.

Ajax will give us a clear head, try to get a win, see what happens.

    It's a process.

Well let’s pray to the football gods that it’s just a knee sprain. Small knee injuries are rare.

Indeed, more so Alisson. We didn't have Thiago last season so not sure how much of a miss he will be, though he's started well enough.

    Yep.

Everton were handed a Liverpool side that was missing their best keeper, missed their best centre-back for most of the match, got away with potentially being down to 10 men and 2-0 down (if penalty is converted) and despite being the form team in the League STILL got out-performed in most departments.

Jammy gits. We haven't been through so much for years and years and years to keep going, only to fold now.

We bounce back. It's what we do.

what really fks me off is the intent of them shits.. They really mean to hurt our players. The hatred is great in that club. Thats why they will start sliding down the table now. Their cup final is over. What an horrible bitter club
