I would suggest that injecting huge cash to buy a decent first 11 and then continually adding more and more quality to the squad is as likely a culprit as any..
City are only doing now, what we were doing in the 80's. Once they got the team together, they used to buy a couple each year to keep the squad fresh, and sell the ones past their sell by date. Liverpool told players when to leave back then, not the players telling the club they wanted a move.

And that's without thinking. Plenty more like those.

Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho - all bought in January too..

    Milner is often forgotten..

As is the fact that after Klopp inherited Lallana he made him look world class for a while - until his body broke...

Those saying big clubs don’t buy in January...the team above us bought Fernandes in January. If it wasn’t for him they wouldn’t have made top four and Solskjaer would be out of a job.

Strengthening your position in January after being league champions should definitely be considered. Especially if we have a team that’s lacking in the defence, midfield and offence.

You can argue Thiago is back from injury, but with Keita, ox (injury prone) and Milner ageing and doesn’t have the ability to turn a game, you need to ask the question as what our aspirations are this season.

    Don’t forget Balotelli.

Or was that a ‘committee’ signing.

Whoever it was, he was an awful signing. There's only us could sell a talent like Suarez and bring in someone like him.
