    The Italian way.

You can see why Serie A clubs try and wangle deals of this Nature - think of the sort of deals we were offered for Aquilani - the "buyer" always seemed to be the beneficiary - we've flipped the script here.

Also, although the market will likely change somewhat in light of Covid-19, the £18m option (if he turns out to be really good and we take it up) could prove to be an absolute steal if he ends up here for 5-10 years.

Only £500,000 up front for Davies with the rest with add-ons linked to appearances and team achievements.

A £1m loan fee for Kabak (option to buy for £18m in the summer).

£1,500,000 (for now) for two centre-backs. That is Edwards alright!

Preston will get 20% of the transfer fee should we ever sell Davies on.

Given that we apparently had two bids rejected for David Carmo (Portugese, 21, SC Braga) before chasing Oblak, it'll be interesting to see who any summer signing might be at the back, if we go for one.

Van Dijk and Gomez will be recovering from serious, career-threatening injuries, so in terms of centre-back options I think we'll go into next season looking something like this at the back -

    Van Dijk
    Gomez
    Kabak
    New centre-back or Matip*
    Davies

*Given Matip's injury record I think we will aim to sell

Phew - despite the very glaring need for some genuine CB’s - due to dropping the ball this summer and letting Lovren go without replacing - the fact it has cost us with injury to key midfielders Fabinho and Hendo ....and that it has quite possibly cost us a shot at number 20 - especially so as it has happened in February rather than late December - MUCH more important though is that we do it all on the super cheap. I mean as fans that is what matters eh.

You're absolutely right, we should give Real Madrid £55m for Sergio Ramos to appease the fans and prove that FSG mean BUSINESS!

That’s bollox - straight up bollox. So the only option is going cheap on deadline day or spunking the lot on Ramos..? Come on mate

Come on Sid - get to a game and smell what really matters.

This is Liverpool football club FFS! We are here to win titles...!

Good that we have finally done some business but it is a bit late - I am happy to see the benefit of both these guys - will relieve the midfield big time - but why not sooner ???

Either way - gloating over how little we have paid is just silly IMO. The true cost will be revealed in May

We've done well to pay £3m in reality to get two CBs in.

One of them is a target of ours for a while in Kabak.

Its not the fee that matters its are they the right fit for the team and good enough.

We'll find out im happy with what we've got.
