Yes i realised what you meant in the end. Matip had one good season, his first then went backwards. Only got better when VVD came in. The fact that people think he was better than Lovren isn't much of a yardstick. There are plenty out there who could replace him imo.Originally Posted by Kev0909

Imagine he'd do well in the Mourinho-Spurs set-up where it's backs-to-the-wall, do-the-basics, congested space type of defending, but am not sold on him being particularly impressive in our pro-active, high line, recovery pace situations especially - particularly for the money it would cost.

Would anyone work with an high line? I don't care what defender you are..Your gonna be found out now and then when playing an high line. Playing deep involves more than your defenders. It includes your midfield doubling up or in West-Broms case tripling up.
