He's also got a lot of flak for being too selfish too often (and a lot of it deserved criticism, too be fair) and not passing to teammates when their open and better positioned to score.
These sorts of things to get to players and sometimes even gets to their heads.

So it wouldn't surprise me if that was also playing a part in it.
