We aren't playing instinctively and haven't for some time. Maybe it's the fact that we are trying to protect our back four, but we take an extra touch or ten to slow the game down. Not taking any risks.

Personally I think Curtis Jones has been brilliant since he tracked back to win the ball.
Since then every time he gets the ball he looks so confident.
The less said about Thiagos yellow 2 minutes in the better.

Curtis has played well. He just needs to shift it quicker at times. But he is a confident young lad. Not scared to try things, similar to Trent.

A lot of the commentators correctly noted that it was more Sterling being too clever and going down too easily - and inversely, Oliver being too weak a referee as most other referees likely would have overlooked that.

Sterling was never going to get that ball back so he did the only thing he had a play left in which was to go down as soon as he saw that trailing leg of Fab.
Yep, Fabinho trailing leg wasn’t intentional and a natural action. Never a Pen if you look at it correctly.

Saying it’s Fabinhos fault is stupid. Nothing he can do in that situation. Watch it in slow motion. Yeah, he didn’t protest as he would have hoped VAR would have a proper look

I'd agree. CBs not under too much pressure so worth bringing him on but then again if they turn up the heat it could flip. Tricky decision but we need Hendo back in there ASAP.
Thiago is on a booking and doesn't look like he'd be missed if he went off now.

Trent has played really well in this game.

    MOTM so far for me.
His crosses have been incisive and dangerous (too bad none of the front three want to get at the end of them or make anything more of them than Mane did).
His defending - normally a sore point - has been much improved and solid.
Yes, Sterling got past him to get to win the penalty too easily, but other than that, I have to say I'm most pleased with his performance of any of our players out there.

    Keep it up, lad.
Don't make me look stupid now

Also like to see us be more direct looking for Mane from deeper second half, we've neaar;y had joy from that a few times first half, Mane's so good at getting in front of the defender and making it difficult for him to get a good clearing header on and UAE FC haven't looked too clever at coming back to try and get that second ball, we've won every single one when we've tried it

Yeh get Thiago off Kabak on.

The minute we bring Kabak on ,Pep bring Jesus on and it's a completely different game.
It's like a game of chess.
