Geezer - not sure if you have noticed BUT just look at what City have won in the last 5 years compared to us. They didn’t perform at their best last season - were beaten by an unbelievable points total from us - but still came second - still won silverware and have been serial winners before and likely will this season too.

All of that is irrelevant. Our net spend is the FOURTEENTH highest in the PL alone over the last five years. The one and only time we went out and spent serious money is when we sold Coutinho, which whether you like it or not is relevant. You say that VVD was already lined up irrespective of what happened with Coutinho, but by the same token it could already have been known that Coutinho was going to be sold, and that the money received for him was going to be put towards VVD and Alisson. For all you know they could have earmarked other players to be sold to finance those signings if Barcelona had not paid as much as they did.

If they had sold Coutinho and not used most, if not all of that money to bring in one or two quality/expensive players, they know there would have been serious unrest. They may be businessmen, and tight as ****, but they aren't stupid. They hired Klopp because of his record of being successful on the cheap. People like yourself can keep denying it, but there is more evidence to suggest that is indeed the case than there is to say that's not the main reason why they hired him.

This is real life not fantasy football. They didn't sign Van Dijk because they sold Coutinho. Van Dijk was already coming on thing the rapping up issue. Fsg made Van Dijk a player who played for Southampton and Celtic the most expensive defender in world football because Klopp wanted him. Dag spent 66m on a keeper with 0 league titles and only a fluke champi0ns league semi final by Roma and they went and got the man. Ederson by the way was the most expensive at about 30m at the time. If that is not backing then....

Jota cost 42 million and has only scored a handful of goals in the Premier League. 41 million. Bruno cost 45m just to give perspective. Werner with a proven record also cost about the same amount. That is backing.
