Chelsea have had some stick for their spending over the years but City appear to just completely get away with it. Their success is apparently just down to Baldy’s greatness, not the £1bn net, spent on the squad.
Having limitless funds means nothing if you don't spend it on the right players. Guardiola is top notch at bringing the right ones in. United aren't paupers but look at how much Van Gaal and Mourinho wasted.

If Guardiola is so great at Identifying players, how come he spunked an absolute fortune on his defence (notably the full back positions) before finally getting a couple of decent defenders?

Also how many 'budget' players has he bought and developed into much better players than when they first arrived?

No-one gets it right all the time, but the best ones make the least mistakes. Like him or not, he wins trophies.

    @Legs

The world is full of hypocrites who like to espouse causes such as the environment, but who themselves have a tendency to adhere to the philosophy of "do as I say, not as I do", such as is the case with the likes of Greta Thunberg, Lewis Hamilton, His Royal Gingerness etc.

Given the amount of money he/Man City spend/have spent (the latter has spent more since becoming state run than we've spent in the entire PL era), I think even some of us could win a few trophies if given the chance. Guardiola has spent mega fortunes on players that haven't worked out, with many of them being moved on very swiftly, which is one of the reasons those players/failures don't get brought up as much as say Pogba at Man U, or even Keita with us.

And they don't question how much is spent on players when they win the trophies to back them up. People only bring those things up when they don't win anything of note. United were always getting critisised in the 80s for spending big on players without ever catching us up. It gives the media and fans something either to gloat, or whinge about.

Im with Noods on this Pep is obviously a good manager but he isnt a wizard.

Take a look at Mourinho at Spurs he is doing a par job id say but cos of his record it gets looked as failure.

City are able to burn through money Ake £40m has he played 3 league games ?

    Mendy/Walker/Cancelo cost £160m for 3 full backs.

NOBODY has that backing in world football but there is nothing you can do about it.

They will spend another £100-200m this summer and everyone will go he is great isnt he what a genius.

They can also keep their squad fresh because it’s so huge. Look at their wide men, Sterling, Foden, Silva, Mahrez and up until recently the also had David Silva and Sané. At Anfield this season it’s been pretty if you’re fit you play.

Not a level playing field at all. Utd have spent plenty but bought badly. Fernandes has saved them from absolute also rans. The difference with City is, when they don’t work out they just go and buy a couple more at £40m, £50m plus.

Would be good if we had a balance between city's owners- and owners that sign Davies on a real cheap just to possibly make a few million down the line---- just one example, many others of having to sell to buy net-spend etc.

Don't want us to have arab owners exactly, but want us to have owners that fund a club as big as ours, as it should be, "smaller clubs" are getting more backing, and more funds..... it's worrying going forward, from champions and constant top 4 to.. possibly fighting for top four again and sometimes not making it in future seasons, due to lack of funds.

we can all slag city off, but there's plenty of other clubs that splash the cash, more than us just not on city's level obviously.

It's depressing but can't see us winning another title under FSG, unless by some miracle, maybe we'll have a few gerrards at the same time come through the youth system??.... doubt it somehow.. but always hope

Klopp can do wonders on a budget and compete with richer clubs, but... there's a limit and frankly FSG take the piss.

Leicester have this problem too, but they're somewhat new to being around the top4

The fact that Pep hasn't won the champions league in the last 10 years with virtually unlimited funds means he isn't all that
