It’s not other clubs having more money, Utd have pretty much always had more money it’s the level of more money Man City in particular and Chelsea have.
14th net spend and won everything except the domestic cups.
That’s a hell of an achievement but in no way sustainable.
Anyone here think Pep could have done that??
Could he bollocks, he’s spent obscene money and still hasn’t.

If you're not sure what to do with the ball, just put it in the net, and we'll talk about the other options later... Bob Paisley.
He wins domestic cups because everyone rests players for them. The difference between his so called second string team and everyone else’s is ridiculous.
You really don’t get the impact of being able to keep on spending til you get it right, up to £1b compared to selling to buy.
It makes a massive difference.
Or maybe he treats the domestic cups with more respect than Klopp and some others do. You don't win the amount of trophies he has, if you are not good at your job.

I rate Klopp very, very highly. Rodgers is decent but wasn't ready / good enough for the highest level. Kenny steadied the ship but was never going to be a long term solution. Hodgson was way out of his depth and Rafa would have won a lot more if he was backed financially.
I think Pep would get found out without obscene amounts of money to spend just like Mourinho
Benitez may also have won more if he put more into league games than his champions league. One near miss out of 6 goes and the margin between us and the title winners was very poor apart from 09. He rested players for certain league games because he seen the cl as a better option. He was quite happy finishing top 4 to qualify for the cl, and didn't even do that in his last season.

To defend Rafa a bit, most of his reign occured when the best Chelsea side (Mourinho first spell) and the best United side ('07-'10) were around. Indeed, if we add an extra year to that (Benitez wasn't our Manager at the end of this spell) from 07/08 until 10/11, United got to three-of-four Champion's League Finals, with only Pep's peak-Barcelona side stopping them - even the 09/10 year (where United didn't reach the Final) was a 4-4 on aggregate and thus perilously close - United had a lad sent off in the second leg (Rafael maybe) and they could have easily reached the semis to face a Lyon side that United would have comfortably have beaten.
Between the strength of Chelsea, the strength of United and the latter stages of the "good" years for Arsenal, Rafa was up against a lot. The Premier League was so, so strong back then, which was obvious when 7 of 8 Finals in a row contained English opposition - twice being us - the Bayern v Inter final being the "odd one out" as it were.
Rafa had his faults, but the challenge was always huge.

Arsenal's bosses seemed quite happy to keep Wenger on when he finished winning titles, but continually finished top 4. I'd like to think we aim higher than that. It wouldn't bother me if we never won another CL, as long as we were winning the title. That was always the aim and a measure of a teams consistency, the best teams don't always win the cups but they do over 38 games.
