That’s right - our beloved FSG who needed to recoup so much of the £50 million costs of Kirkby so badly they just couldn’t leave a positive legacy - a green space for the people to enjoy.

    Hope they choke on it.

Naaah - much needed housing in Melwood..? Clearly you have never been. It is already overcrowded and lacking resources as it is..

    Another fail..

    from 2017

It adds: “There is no housing shortage in West Derby, as claimed by (the) club. There is absolutely no reason, other than profit, to build houses on that piece of land.

“Also, why lose such an historic piece of West Derby history for pure greed? How about giving it to the ladies Liverpool football team, as currently they travel to Widnes to train, seems the best outcome for everyone?

“How thoughtless they are... without any thought for all of those fans who specifically moved to the area because of Melwood Training Ground.

“There just seems to be no loyalty to their faithful fans. Please sign and share to stop this build and make use of the ground for something positive, that doesn’t just line the pockets of the club.”

Lots of sound and fury. Sky promoting opposition because they will be a massive loser -the clubs will own and sell their own media access. And the idea that the CL was "open" to any club is a bit of a fantasy if you analyse the clubs getting to the serious end of the competition. The domestic fan base hasn't mattered since the launch of the break-away Premier League. This is one group of rich parasites - UEFA/ FIFA/ Premier League fearing loss of control and revenue to another bunch of rich parasites - the owners. UEFA were already friggin around with the competition and encouraging smaller, crap teams and more games for LFC. Frankly, if this seismic shift happens - it won't make LFC's global fans unhappy with more access to the club - and that's all they care about.

PS I follow the NFL - and few fans complain about the lack of relegation or promotion. It's an odd concept to Europeans but not one that I believe will stop football fans from adapting.

PPS I think VAR will destroy the game more than the Europe Super League

Reading the statement from Perez has reassured me of the ESL.

It is for US and the younger fans who are bored we are all bored at the minute !

Being serious it won’t happen for a number of reasons.

My guess is they put that statement out Sunday on purpose as UEFA we’re putting their new CL format out on Monday.

The CL format is poor as well so they need to rethink that.

My guess is they will all get together and compromise on certain things.

The clubs are being greedy there is no getting away from that but UEFA/FIFA are the same just in different outfits.

Much of this is sadly true - the outrage in the main stream media is indeed very much down one group of parasites challenging another. Owners vs the established corrupt competition organisers and associated media.

BUT the other noise is from those who see the sport that has been integral to the lives of so many - absolutely sold down the river - US style.

I love how people in society debate or look at matters when they are not benefiting or if they perceive it to no longer be beneficial.

The debate for me is always a capitalism vs. socialism ideology. People love capitalism because of what it represents. The opportunity to rise above your current level through hard work and innovation. But subconsciously people want to get ahead as long as others don't get ahead of them or get more than them. Then they become socialist and hate those who are able to gather more or manipulate better than them to achieve the goal.

Same thing is happening here. People are talking about the fans, the fans, the fans. I use Gary Neville for example he was literally crying. For me such hypocrisy. Two things if the English big 6 of 1990 didn't shift then an start the PL he would not have made as much money in his career as he did. He would have probably played on semi frozen pitches and revenue that primarily came from English supporters. He has directly benefited from exorbitant ticket prices, t-shirt sales. Teams release 3 new jerseys each season, wonder what the reason is for that. Never heard Neville complain about that when it benefited him. Gary Neville is Roman Abramovic of a lower league. He bank rolled a lower league team and created an unfair playing field for their rivals. Thus his club is able to purchase the best players of that level etc. Also he is working for a tv company that kick started this cash cow and who are charging people crazy money to watch football. Those with blood on their hands are calling others guilty, very hypocritical. This goes for all ex players that played in the PL post 1991. They benefited and earned crazy salaries. Virgil van Dijk earns 200k to kick a pigs bladder. That is insane. But who has allowed it? The fans...

Now let us deal with the fans. As i mentioned fans locally have enjoyed the benefit of the team becoming global and have allowed this juncture to happen. FSG own Liverpool not the fans. Some fans on here want Kylian Mbappe to come but have a problem with how the owners make that happen. There is that capitalist/socialist paradox. You can't have your cake and eat it. Fans need to ask themselves right here right now, what is it that they really want. If they want back the souls of their clubs then perhaps they need to purchase the teams.

Lets talk numbers if Liverpool is valued at 4B pounds. If 100 000 local fans clubbed together they would be able to buy the team. They can then structure the business model in a way that as people supposedly want, the way it used to be. Amateur or semi proffesional. Where players go to work and then go to practice. Can travel with supporters on the train. Matches played in muddy conditions. A team of Vinny Jones type quality etc. Liverpool only supported or mostly supported by Scousers. Matches attended by locals, tickets at low prices. No kit sponsors. Because no kit sponsor will be involved where there is no commercial benefit. And that is not what the fans what a game that is commercial. Kits can be sewn by your local seamstress.

That way the English people will have their game back. But if you want to have Van Dijk in your team and oay him 200k a week and buy a keeper for 66m then perhaps fans have made their bed. Owners are business people and business people are in it for the money. The do sustain their business in order to have a continual revenue stream. But they won't do it for charity or to please supporters. If supporters want to be pleased buy back LFC, buy back MUFC, buy back Arsenal. And then have your old Division English football.

I bet you 99% of people will continue supporting Liverpool after all this has blown out and will be watching the ESL. If they weren't they would have given up their season tickets and stop buying merchandise a long time ago if they were opposed against this exploration.

I wondered why A big Liverpool fan like Peter Moore would give up the CEO job at the club. We now know why.
