    Corner rule

What is the corner rule now?
Most always the ball is outside of the triangle and overseen by the linesman
What if a goal happens. Is it subject to VAR?

The line is part of the quadrant so as long as the ball is touching the line, it's OK.
It will hardly make any difference to us. I can't remember the last goal we scored from a corner. Maybe Origi ?

But the ball is seldom touching the line! Often inches beyond. VAR appears to deal with less than millimetre infringements.

The rule says it can overhang the line, it’s a bit like they are saying that if the whole of the ball isn’t over the line (as with the goal line) it’s deemed to be still in the quadrant.

Yeah, if you look straight down as long as it's on the line.

Then people are pushing the limits with corners
Why can't they do that with VAR or goal line tech - close enough?

As said, that's what they do, the ball only has to have a fractional part of it on the line to be discredited as a goal.

What fractional part is justified. I do not believe the technology to be millimetre accurate. If a linesman view of a ball to be somewhat near a corner triangle is ok then linesman view of a goal should be ok yes/no? Or else make the corner triangle bigger or make the VAR lines bigger.

If the linesmen did their job properly, part of the ball would always be in the quadrant before the corner was taken.
If you're not sure what to do with the ball, just put it in the net, and we'll talk about the other options later... Bob Paisley.

You're not talking about similar demands on the linesman imo.
Typically they're adjacent to the ball when a corner is taken and the ball is static.
Whereas for a goal, the linesman is further away, the ball is moving and if the linesman was in the correct position looking straight across the goal line then the post would obscure their view.

Goal line technology is probably the best implementation of technology so far imo.
