Southgate is a decent bloke but he isnt good enough but he will be in charge for the world cup.
I'm glad Hendo went off, although I'd have fancied him to score a penalty given what I was from Rashford, Sancho and Saka
I was pretty sure England wouldn't win, with Southgate's 1990's tactics, I felt sorry for Hendo, played England's 2 most incisive passes of the entire game, putting Sterling through twice and he absolutely HAD to score the first one, perfect ball, perfect weight, no defenders anywhere near him, all he had to do was take a decent first touch out of his feet in front of him, putting him in a position to slot it past their keeper near or far post, but he showed himself to be a big time bottler as ever
No pressing game, zero, none, nada, that's the 1990's tactics reference, it's Roy Hodgson Crystal Palace tactics, sitting off with numbers behind the ball not pressing until a player becomes active in your half, Hendo attempted a few times to get a press going, then realised none of the other players were joining him in it
Can't blame the penalty takers, Sterling had THE golden chance to win the game when Hendo put him through and bottled it
England haven't played any decent football all tournament, Southgate's 1990's tactics of keeping numbers behind the ball, only pressing players when they become active in your half and relying on set pieces and the odd decent ball to release your quality forwards and hope they work their magic is good enough and was good enough for the dross they played up until the final, but not having a pressing game in the modern game just isn't good enough, England won't win a single thing with Southgate's dated tactics and methods
