A number of top players werent great for England...Scholes Gerrard Lampard are a few.
Wonder why ??!!
Take a look at the managers and style of play then you might have your answer.

Scholes was - Gerrard and Lampard were always used to having better players around them at club level than playing for Engerland.
We don’t produce top class players - think it could be grass roots maybe but it is so rare… almost ever - despite one of the top leagues on the planet and nigh on 60,000,000 people.
Hopefully it is changing

Teams in other major leagues all play the same system as their national team, that could be a factor, though not the only one.
Correct Sky.
Gerrard as an example had to play left midfield and defensive midfield not his role at us at all.
Hargreaves/Butt would have been a much better fit in DM role than Gerrard even though talent wise they werent as good as Stevie.
How can England play like a top Premier league side when all the top players in a top Premier league side are not English?
I think most teams play 433 in EPL so most English players are used to that.
Good players can play anywhere if given time to gel but in Inty footy you dont get that time to gel.
Woy and Southgate managed last 5 tournys both negative managers so that could be an issue.
Steveo you are right England dont have a Modric/Pirlo so they might as well attack and have a go.
They also don't have a Low Deschamps or an Enrique in charge. They have a Southgate instead.
France out - so Belgium or Italy must be odds on favs.
We do produce players correct me if I'm wrong but isn't pretty much every player playing regularly at a top club or best player of a smaller club like grealish? Obviously you have pickford but still.. we don't have championship standard or worse like alot of other teams in the squad
