Liverpool using the colander defensive formation, with 6 CB’s used in 3 different pairings and they all conceded awful goals.

Much defensive work to do in the next couple of weeks.

One of the problems for me is the number 9 role. We have no player pressing the oppositions centre backs. Minamino runs around like an headless chicken. Unsure of his position and then he passes the ball., In the final 3rd you sometimes have to take responsibility. Either run at the defenders of take a shot when in position.. Not try and build up play at the top of the attack..
And i'm all for the pressing game. But i would like us to drop off sometimes be compact then use the pace of Salah and Mane on the break.

So just scrap last season and we're going into the new season with Thiago and Konate, minus Gini. We've had worse squads going into a new season.
I'd just love to know Jurgens thoughts on the lack of funds, or maybe he knew all this before he took the job.

It’s really not appreciated outside of our support what an incredible job Jurgen has done with less money than Villa, Everton and West Ham. Every time money comes up, the red herring of Virgil and Alisson Becker’s signings. That was not City, Utd Chelsea type of investment, it was merely player recycling.
Imagine how far off it the other 3 of the top four would be with Jurgen’s budget. Miles away.

Funny, I see huge admiration for Jurgen outside of the lfc fanbase.

    A motivational beacon
Gets success with a high percentage of his transfers
Has infested his vision throughout the club
Remarkable success given his net spend

    Miles away for sure.

Klopp should give clubs massive enthusiasm.

Most clubs fans don’t accept we’ve done things on a shoestring compared to Chelsea city and united in my experience. It’s actually comical. They criticise us both for saying we’ve spent fook all and laugh at us for not spending at the same time. Unbelievable mental gymnastics.

“With Fabinho, Roberto and Ali arriving, this means that a few our young players go back to the AXA Training Centre while we are travelling to Evian” - Pep Lijnders.

Owen Beck and Kaide Gordon are still with the squad.
