Man City wanted Messi, Barcelona gave him silly money, their President just kept upping and upping his contract from time to time?

There are a few clubs whose actions I (relatively speaking) "ignore" in World Football as they can't be competed with, without us getting a Sheikh ourselves - something I personally don't want.

Oil Clubs of Chelsea,Man City and PSG.
Basically bank-rolled by their Government when required Real Madrid.
Idiotically run commercial juggernaut Barcelona.

There are two clubs (ignoring those) that financially (relative to their League) are head and shoulders above the rest of their League in Man United and Bayern Munich, with Bayern being the more sustainably run. I can begrudgingly "respect" those clubs due to their positions but the rest I barely think about when people talk about "competing" with them (by which they mean buying shiny new toys and over-paying them) as their antics have utterly ruined the game.

It's like in gaming where you can get weapon upgrades through levelling up (playing for hours, fine-tuning tactics etc) or you can pay real-life cash to simply buy the stuff digitally. I don't want to play that way and when the time comes where the League is just "who has the most Oil" I'll just stop following, as much of a wrench as it may be.

Hopefully if that pans out a group of our fans will form their own venture and I'll likely follow that.

I can always remember years ago when Rodney Marsh said a player will be on £100k a week soon and the whole studio laughed at him.

He was abit of a clown but he was spot on.

You do realise you don't need to leave the house to scout players now. As crazy as it sounds There's computer software that's updated daily on every player including youth players.
A great book to read is nowhere men by Micheal Calvin. It's proper old school on scouting youth players.
It was wrote in 2014 and in it , it details us looking at a youth player called Ward Prowse.

Yeah, they get paid about 25p a mile ,And I'm not joking !!
I know what you're getting at mate. It's been a bloody joke ever since we won the Champions league. Only for Jurgen we'd be mid table at best.
