Harvey Elliot registered the most time spent counter-pressing by a player in a Premier League match this season.

To me he should be Mo's back up.

    Diaz / Gakpo
Nunez / Jota (this is assuming Bobby is off in the summer)
    Mo / Elliot

He was decent last night. Think that’s fair to say.

I'd love to see him in the 10 if we end up transitioning towards a 4-2-3-1 at any point - the creativity, quick-thinking and tenacity are there.

The big hurdle for him would be the degree of congestion in that part of the pitch in possession - could prove too much for him.

One of those "try it for a game" experiments for me.

How can he be counter pressing while simultaneously nowhere near any opposition players?

he was fucking shite once more, and more to the point, Mo was rank average again as he always is because Elliott gets in his space and inhibits Mo playing his game as he does at its best, it's not just about Elliott being shit, his presence in the side has a detrimental effect on Trent and Mo

Trent was as decent in keeping and movig the ball as anyone else last night, because that's all our midfield did, kept and moved the ball albeit almost exclusively going sideways or backwards and not creating anything, but Trent barely got into his wide right or inside right position 10-15 yards inside the opposition half, where he mostly plays his top quality switches and diagonals for Nunez from all game, because Elliott and Mo both end up getting in his space attracting players in there so there is no space for Trent to arrive in

Even fucking Danny murphy and Michael Owen highlighted it at length on BBC and BT Sport respectively

Our video analysis tea mall want sacking, or instructed tha tthere are many other useful and constructive purposes they could and should be using it for, because how they are not knocking on Jurgen's door with footage or games with and without Elliott at RCM and of Mo and Trent operating at their best and illustrating to him in no uncertain terms Elliott is not only shit himself, but his presence makes Mo and Trent far less effective is simply scandalous

Loved how he took a shot today. Previously he may have passed the ball.. Just shows he got more about him.. needs to keep going

Cute… used the 2 players as a decoy… Unsighted the keeper and he had the ability to hit that in the space at the near post. Instinctive finish. We could use a few more players with those smarts.

His build isn’t the type to make him a premier league mid in truth BUT he always had quality. A Shaqiri light if you will.
