Dave Maddocck in the Mirror
Liverpool closing in on spectacular transfer window coup for Luis Diaz.
Understood deal v.close with fee of £37.5m with £12.5m in add ons.
Reds beat Manchester United and Spurs to signing of Porto winger - seen as perfect fit for Liverpool front line.
Spurs thought they had an agreement for Diaz, but it's been reported in Portugal he held out for a 'higher level', and insisted on #LFC
Interestingly, Everton tried to sign him last summer, in a swap deal with James Rodriguez, but he declined the move.
Love the last bit…
BBC Transfer Centre showing :
Liverpool have signed Columbia Winger Luis Diaz for 37m + 12m add ons ( Ojogo - in Portuguese )
Sky Sports also about to announce the same in approx 5 mins
Did not see this coming. Don't know anything about him. Seems highly rated. Looks to be a good signing if we get him
"...and my inch is like a freight train, so I only use it in self defence"
Talking about it on SSN and on the yellow ticker tape across the bottom of the screen.
Looks like we are actually trying to sign him, whether we stump up enough or construct the deal in the right way … time will tell.
Think it is a good sign to all fans that the US Owners we have are trying to improve the team with Quality signings now and in the Summer window
Diaz's Performance Stats are Superior (overall)to any of our existing front line.

Also looking at getting the Carvalho kid from Fulham wrapped up January too. Don't care if they don't happen, just nice to hear rumours about us wanting to sign someone.
Salah's replacement...?
If we're sat at the start of next season with Salah, Mane, Jota, Bobby and Diaz we'll be laughing, we'll be able to genuinely be able to rotate our forwards.
Diaz could be absolute dynamite! He's fast, tricky and has a bit of a cunty streak in him. He needs to work on his finishing and final ball, but I can see him being a world beater in a couple of years time.
Two new midfielders in the summer and we're set.
