    It’s a very good question.

    If anyone should be justifying their decisions it is referees who are the only people outside of the players who can determine the outcome of a game, yet they are exempt.

    I can see why that is the case but it does leave room for match fixing which is clearly a door that someone is desperate to leave open.

    Much harder for a biased ref to make these calls if they have to face the camera afterwards. Could lead to more delay though - multiple VAR and Side screen stoppages.

    If Tierny has to face the camera - he goes to check on Kane’s tackle and Jota’s penalty incident

    Players, coaches, managers are all expected to talk to the press/media. Shouldn't the referees also have to explain their actions?
    Ljinders has mentioned this. They should be, the ones doing VAR have no excuse. They should have to justify their actions or inactions.
    The ref can always use Arsenes famous "I didn't see it" line.
