Seriously if you gave Pep our squad he wouldn’t come close to winning a title or a CL with it.

Do you not think that list of midfield players have all massively improved under pep. I don’t think many on that list would have been flagged as signings to get us excited about at the time city signed them. I think the man’s a genius to be perfectly honest.Originally Posted by Steveo

Pep isn’t fitting him into that midfield - not a prayer. Even with the most rose tinted specs. The guy just isn’t that level yet seemingly is key for us.
Pep for sure improves players and is a superb coach but he is bringing in players with specific technical superiority verses ours who are targeted to do multiple jobs. Workhorses to a degree. Even Gini who was absolutely crucial for us - struggles to get into Peps Midfield. Squad player. Thiago is good enough but not fit enough.
There is a reason he is winning so much and it’s isn’t just the size of his squad. Part time forum experts - in truth - they don’t know very much, that’s why their careers are not in the sport.

Hes winning a lot because hes managed the joint biggest club in Spain. Biggest team in Germany and spent nigh on a billion at City and almost 250 million during a pandemic.. Kinda helps

And eggy - Yes just as Klopp is a monumental factor for us and our players, so - absolutely - is Pep. But Pep was a top class player too and played at the highest level. Klopp wasn’t. Perhaps this is why he has that constant blind spot for the midfield.

For balance:
Hasn’t spent as much as United though, is up against Klopp and Romans Chelsea. So we have to take “The world is against us” red specs off at times and accept that he has his qualities too. He won’t accept players with poor technique in the middle of his team. It doesn’t mean you win every game BUT it means you win more consistently than others.
He was taking 100 points BEFORE we won our title too so the idea that Pep has copied our template looks a little contrived.

I see Lukaku is not happy and Tuchel will have a word with him.. Nowwwwww we are up next in the league.. Now theres motivation for Lukaku to put things right.
