I wonder if we’ll get anyone in before the season starts.
Unless any incomings are dependent on player sales.

A big chunk of that wage money will get eaten up by agent fees for Van Dijk, Trent and Salah related contract negotiations you'd imagine, plus Trent getting a big wage increase.
That's not to say we shouldn't spend - we should - just that the wage money from those 2 players leaving won't go very far.
Trent will most likely get a salary increase if he stays, vvd will be on his final deal and tbh should probably expect to be on less money in his twilight years. Ditto Salah, who i'd sell if the arabs are still interested. As for agent fees, somebody somewhere needs to take a stand and let the player pay their agent out of their new deal, signing bonus etc. The agent doesn't own an already under-contract player. In my mind under contract players renewing a contract shouldn't even get a signing on bonus ffs.
Would be great to have some new signings, but I am more stressed about keeping our captain and our vice captain.
Rumours saying VVD would fancy a big payday to go to Saudi, and Trent still linked with Madrid pretty strongly, although he would have to take a pay cut I think.
Less than 4 weeks to the start of the new season. we have let players leave and signed NO ONE.. ooops sorry we got a 15 year old from Chelsea. There's 3 players on their final year of contract.. Everything is hunky dory. nothing to see here.
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
Oh for sure - the amount clubs have to pay out on agent fees is a joke - there was a season recently where we paid Ł20m in one season in agent fees alone.
Matip and Thiago's wages combined would be, what, Ł380k-per-week or so? If Trent gets a boost of contract that takes him towards the Ł300k-per-week mark (I personally wouldn't, but I think that may be the sort of figure he gets) then that's eating up like half of that, before we have paid his agent, or Van Dijk's, or Salah's, or any increase in wage they might get.
It's wild. We should spend, absolutely - "standing still" isn't ideal - just the money to further improve the squad won't come from that particular source.
Yeah, sorting out the contracts of Trent, Van Dijk and Salah is top priority for me, then of course transfers.
Will be interesting to see how the squad looks at the end of the window. Some fans are sweating a bit, but as things stand, the squad is actually really quite "full" in terms of numbers, so that could slow business down a little.
By the time we combine returning loanees and former U21 players that now need to be registered as senior players for the 25-man squads, there isn't actually a whole load of wiggle-room for incomings - even after the departures of Thiago, Matip and Adrian - so getting a few outgoings sorted would be useful.
Not talking "sell to raise funds" here - talking about creating spaces.
Rhys Williams for example wasn't involved against Preston, so perhaps there's a loan or sale being sorted behind the scenes there (just as one example) that would create a space. There will be lots of quiet work happening to get this all sorted and hopefully Hughes (with the odd bit of advice from Edwards) can get off to a good start on that score.
One thing that IS pleasing me (obvious caveat of we want to see the signings occur!!!) is actually the LACK of noise - all that Caicedo/Lavia/Bellingham nonsense in the media was a pain in the ass - I'd love a return (now Edwards is around again) to the likes of the Fabinho signing - we were linked with a move and then a day or two later it was all done!
More of that please.
