Most probably bollocks but, Caicedo is next through the door.
Or Amrabat, MacAllister or Fernandez
Looks like our owners really don’t want to miss cl this year. May do something about this injury problem. City have only one player injured at the moment. We must have 6 or 7 and it constantly seems like this.
Re the midfielders, I must admit the only one I really know to be absolutely top quality is Bellingham, the rest seem to be much of a muchness. So if Fernandez goes to Chelsea for £110m… c’est la vie
Champion's League money is huge and with us entering next season with an expanded stadium, the potential earnings is only increasing. The game (rightly or wrongly) is also rigged to suit top clubs due to how unevenly money is distributed.
- Further you go, the more money you get.
- Further you go, the better you're seeded, giving a better chance to go further and thus get more money.
- With more money and better seeding, you increase your chances at going further, better seeding and more money - and on and on it goes.
Not to forget that these days a percentage of the funds distributed is based on the co-efficient ranking over a 10-year spell. When we look like we might miss out on the Champion's League spots, some fans clamour to miss out on the Europa League but the co-efficient points are too precious for future seasons.
Anyway - long and short of it is yes - FSG won't want us to miss out. In terms of being largely self-sustaining, it's sensible to take what they may see as a (temporary) financial hit to increase our chances of maintaining the flow of incoming funds.
Talking of CL.
2024 it will be a 36 team league . Playing 10 games in that league.
Under the new format, teams will play four matches more than is currently the case.
They will no longer play three opponents twice – home and away – but will instead face fixtures against 10 different teams, half of them at home and half of them away.
This gives the opportunity for clubs to test themselves against a wider range of opponents – and also raises the prospect of fans seeing the top teams go head to head more often earlier in the competition.
The new format should mean that there is more to play for right up until the final night of league action.
While the top eight teams will advance automatically to the round of 16, those sides placed between ninth and 24th will enter a play-off round.
Those who finished between ninth and 16th will be seeded in the play-off draw, meaning they will face a team placed 17th to 24th – with home advantage in the second-leg match.
Teams who finish 25th or lower will be eliminated, with no access to the UEFA Europa League.
whats the point?? more income but that just means players wages will increase.. Its just an appeasement for the big clubs who wanted a super league.
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
