The problem selling Mo now is you can't put Ł200 million on the pitch and expect it to score goals 🤣🤣

Yeah, selling Mo right now would be a madness.

If we had a massive gap on 5th spot by the time January hits, it wouldn't surprise me if we thought about it. But it would need to be a big cushion, not 3-7 points.

As to where the money goes, I have discussed our finances at length more than most and in multiple threads over multiple seasons when it has come up. I don't particularly feel the need to do so again. If you want to do a deep dive then stick a kettle on, have a brew and check out some of Swiss Ramble's stuff historically, or see what you can manage with the Search function in here (in your defence and to save you some time I find the search function in here pretty poor so probably wouldn't advise wasting your morning doing that) if you feel inclined.

Lastly, bringing Man City into it is pointless - 115 financial charges and they were initially found guilty and turfed out of the Champion's League - whatever loophole the CAS may have found, we all know they cheated - so comparing our finances to theirs is pointless and a bit of a false argument.
Okay fair enough. They won't pocket all the money, it's not disinformation I'm spreading. It's simply my opinion of FSG and it's not new that's it's very fucking low one.
The point I originally was making in this is that without Salah there's no top four for us. I think it's a dream to think so, hes easily one of our best players.
We are not a club struggling for money so when do we stop selling our best? We don't need to make ends meet. I don't care how much money we'd get for him, I'd rather he sees his career or contract out at LFC. The problem with a lot football fans now is the money driven decisions we make as fans. Why do we care about the money we'd get for him?
We've got zero say in what happens with it.
He one of the premier leagues best ever players and also one of the world's highest profile players yet some are willing to just flog him for the money.

We let shite like Keita and Ox run down their massive contracts so why not let someone who's given everything and done so much.

22m.average net spend is frankly disgusting for a team trying to keep pace with City. It's a miracle we've been anywhere close. Where does the money go?

What's the basis for this belief?
It's not even backed by any evidence much less reecnt history of how they operate that they would actually do anything remotely close to that to claim that "there's absolutely no doubt about that".

There's more than doubt as there's actual historical proof that they would NOT do that.

It's like people in this club suddenly have amnesia and forget that not that long ago they sold a player who at the time was touted as being the best in the league (at the time) and certainly the best in the squad for a (at the time) club and league record amount.

I'm of course talking about Coutinho; whom the club sold.....reluctuntly.....Klopp was pretty clear about wanting to keep him and trying to convince him that he had a better future with us - but the player was adamant that he wanted to leave to the degree that he even stopped training with the team to force a move which the club granted him to Barcelona for a record 145 Million.

Did they pocket that 145 million as you're suggesting they would a Salah fee?
Obviously not - you know they didn't.

They turned that money around and brought in Allisson and Fabinho in the next transfer window addressing two major problem areas after Karius' disaster show at he CL final and addressing a gaping hole in our midfield since the departure of MAscherano - and that was in addition to having already brought in Van Dijk during that same window, which they had done on their own dime since it wasn't paid for by the Coutinho fee
(Van Dijk got here before Coutinho left).

So maybe they took some of what was left over from the Allison and Fabby purchases to pay whatever they took off their own pockets to pay for some of Van Dijk's fee, but so what?
Isn't that still putting the majority or all of a player's (record) sale fee right back into strengthening the squad?

The very same thing that people are claiming they won't do if they sell Salah.

And those three players not only formed the spine that would take us back to the CL final the following year, and win it, but also the league title the season afterward, and until Fabinho's departure this past summer were part of the spine of one of the greatest Liverpool teams in modern history - one that only suffered three defeats in the league during a memorable run that saw them run City close to within wining the title (losing it by a point both times), and also almost going unbeaten in winning the league.

FSG have fucked up a lot of things - especially with their shambolic performance this summer in the transfer window, and not keeping the squad fresh in between title challenges by bringing in new players, instead preferring to watch the squad age out.

Theres plenty of reasons to beat them up for, but let's not create fictional realities where they're just taking out money club, when the clear provable reality is they simply haven't been doing that, and as Sid said, that's simply not how they operate.

Again, they spent all of Coutinho's record fee in making the squad better and bringing in three of the most pivotal players we had during that fantastic run over those couple of seasons.

What's the basis for believing they'd do any different with a potential record Salah fee?

The biggest worry is that they'll spend all or most of it on the over-inflated fee of one player to try and mollify fans upset at them letting Mo go, but that's not in the same stratosphere as them refusing to spend it and instead pocketing it to make their bankbooks look better.
Especially in a summer where they were ready to spend 110 Million on Caciedo - thankfully, a bullet we dodged, as evidenced each week by his fuck-ups with Chelsea that have directly resulted in their two defeats.

And what if the player himself wants to leave?
What if he outright tells the club he wants to take that offer which will (by all reports, potentially) QUINTIPLE his current wages while taking him to a league where he'd not just be a sports icon, but a cultural and national icon as the best ever muslim player to join the league in the home of Islam?

Should FSG then not make a decision that's in the best interest of THE CLUB and it's future, rather than trying to hold onto a player who doesn't want to be here?

All of this would be easily resolved and have a button put on it, if the player in question came out and said straight up that he doesn't want to leave and wants to see out at least the entire season, if not the remainder of his contract with us.
That would kill all interest from the Middle East dead in its tracks.

    He hasn't done so.

    Does that tell you something?
You think the club isn't getting the message in that (.....and planning accordingly).

Also I think it's both delusional and a sad testament to outright claim that we cant get top four without Mo.

What do you think that that says about his teammates?
    Or about Klopp?

That you think this player is so overly-important that virtually everyone else is useless in his absence (which isnt even true. We got to the Champions League final and to within a point of beating City to the title the season before last despite Mo having a very flaccid second half of that season after he had had a great start.)

No one player is bigger than the club.

Every time fans get attached to some player thinking if they leave we won't cope or do as well without them and everytime we just go on to greater things.

    Torres,....
    Suarez,...
    Stevie,..
    God,..

And we won both the Champions League and (first in 30 years) league title AFTER all of them left.

Have more faith in your club and the manager insead of a fanboy's fascination with a single player who's not even necessarily deserving of it (see : if he wanted all this speculation and nonsense to end he would simply come out and say he's not moving to another club. He hasn't. Stop giving him your blind devotion)

You are correct but as i have stated i feel we will be fighting for a possible top 6 finish and therefore don't believe we will win anything this season.
Hence my suggestion to take 200mill if offered,we are supposed to be in rebuild mode !

Fanboys fascination? Blind devotion? Be quiet.
Where at any point did I say the rest of his team mates are useless?
If you're confident we'd get top four without him then good for you. I certainly wouldn't be but that's just my opinion and that's why I'd rather he was retained he's pivotal to our success like he has been the years he's been here. Remove him from that and we win very little.
Maybe he does want to go, if he does I still wouldn't sell him as we can't replace him right now and even in January it would be very difficult. If he did Klopp wouldn't stand in his way and that would be fair enough. You highlight him not coming out and saying he's not going anywhere. Why should he? To please you?
Would you be confident we get top four without Allisson? Salah is as important as the other end of the pitch. Maybe you should appreciate his contribution a bit more.

Fair enough you've probably got me on most of that and it's just treading old ground.
I hold my hands up, it was a daft thing to say.
