Can't see Diaz commanding a similar fee - certainly not relatively speaking.. This guy was the crown jewel of the Premier league.
Phenomenal player and we definitely had his best years. Diaz is nowhere near his level, but to be fair different types of player.

Seeing how good VVD and Ali have been and how Coutinho's career faded, it turned out to be a fantastic bit of business. The money was certainly better invested than the Suarez money...

This is where, as a club we need to be careful. We have to try and not undo all of the amazing work Jurgen has done for us. This includes ripping up the current side.

Souness, whilst his ideas were very modern for the time, tried to change everything, and too quickly. We'd only finished outside the top 2 once in the previous 15 or 16 years, so whatever we were doing worked. It didn't need to much changing.

Jurgen walked into a shambles, as had most of the previous managers over the last 30 years.

Whoever takes over walks into a club in a good state. I would hate for whoever comes in to have the kind of 'I have to stamp my authority on this club' mindset.

Also worth pointing out how much better-placed we are now to attract players. Back then we weren't consistently in the Champion's League, whereas we have spent most of Klopp's tenure in the Top Four and are currently having our 4th title challenge within a 9-year stretch, having won one and reached the Champion's League Final multiple times as well, with the possibility of a Europa League Final - which would mean 5 European Finals in 9 years - utterly bonkers.

If the new Manager comes in and largely sticks to tactical tweaks and doesn't rip the squad up, we should be absolutely fine.

We are seriously lacking in the "dead wood" department - it's healthy trees and green shoots for us. Luxurious position to be in if we manage it carefully, which I believe we will.

Ahem - That’s because we had Jurgen Klopp.

this bit. The bit where we sell a player not even close to Suarez's class for close to a world record fee - and managed to land 2 of the best on planet earth in their positions - while pre Klopp we sold one of the best on the planet for peanuts and brought in dross!

Where do need strengthening next season? It's a difficult one as with the emergance of one or two youngsters we've got a very well rounded squad at the moment. I think it will be a case of only replacing outgoing players. Maybe an upgrade on a midfielder and/or forward?

    Kelleher

    TTA
    Bradley

    Robbo
    Tsimikas

Still personally think if we want to match others on paper, and after other teams spend in window

LB / young good CB / someone that can play on the left front line and across the line ideally, but this will have to be a very good player, with a few out going (gakpo) If jota was fit all the time it wouldn't be a problem, but he misses many games

Endo isn't the long term solution either, but maybe Bajectitic will stop having growing issues sometime this decade...... and kick on... I guess it's put him back bigtime though.

People will say CB but I don't think so now. A three of Virgil,Konate,Quansah and Gomez is fine.
A clinical attacker and possibly another midfielder if there's a possibility of landing a worldie like Kimmich or someone of that stature.
