That's my concern. I said it a few pages back. Feels like the "we tried to sign him, he wouldn't leave, it's too late in the window to do anything else, let's get an Arthur in on loan for the year". Hopefully we are all wrong but same feeling as the caicedo deal.

The asking price isn't the problem it's just unlikely that the player wants the move. Same result though

Come on mate - just how short is your memory? That squad you are laughing at took the best United team they ever had under Fergy all the way. Yes we were a few players short BUT we had 2 cowboys in charge.

That first team is miles better than many that Jurgen had

And Jurgen might have won the lot with Alonso - Gerrard - Mascherano and Sissoko behind Torres and Babel.. In 2009 Rafa did great BUT too defensive - if he plays more proactive we win that title imo
Fair to say Rafa would have won us the league last year then. Would have addressed the defensive issues that plagued our season and cost us the title.
The season prior, where we qualified for Europa was Jurgens only fail season at LFC imo. But last year was much more painful to watch. Sunk by the dirty mancs. Otherwise a fantastic tenure.

Interestingly one of Klopps strengths was imprinting his philosophy within the recruitment department. Only interested in good eggs, and players who are set to play for LFC. Not engaging in bidding wars with half hearted lads. Not exactly the worst restrictions, long may it continue. 3rd most successful club in Europe, Playing at Anfield, for a city of people who've supported their club immensely.

If we sign this Zubimendi lad, the omens suggest we'll be adding a 7th CL title

Lets assume similar transfers happen over his tenure.
Think rafa wins us the league last year with the squad we had.

"Martin Zubimendi will make his final decision THIS WEEKEND.

Liverpool are willing to pay his release clause, whereas Real Sociedad have offered him a new contract." - [@mitxelgonzalez]

Stinks of his agent playing a blinder for his client (which is their job, but still) - he will either get to join us and get an improved contract, or stay at Socieded and get an improved contract.

I can't imagine that the whole thing isn't sorted (us buying the player or going to another target) by Monday - so not long to wait.

I'm still quite optimistic we'll manage it actually, though I think we may end up paying a premium that we will find out about further down the road.
Says one of the "sticking points" is they want the release clause paying in one payment. John's been trying to Klarna things again.
