Typical. £20m in FSG 's pockets to boost our transfer kitty (maybe).

Agreed. Though i'm sursprised that Brentford are after him. They're a very phyiscal side.

i could see him doing well at Brighton.

    :

Liverpool are now best positioned to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili (23) and have now made an offer for him 💣✅

Valencia NEED to make one big sell this window to improve their accounts and Mamardashvili seems to be the one chosen.

    Kev.

Just under a week ago, August 4th, the size of the squad was being discussed.

I laid out our likely (at the time) 25-man squad as such (bearing in mind a finite amount of spaces) -

    Van Dijk
    Konate
    Gomez
    Sepp
    Quansah
    Trent
    Bradley

    Midfielders - we have 8 -

    Mac Allister
    Szoboszlai
    Jones
    Elliott
    Gravenberch
    Endo
    Bajcetic
    Morton

    Forwards - we have 6 -

    Salah
    Núñez
    Jota
    Gakpo
    Diaz
    Carvalho

So that takes us up to 26 players.

That ignores Nat Phillips - a lad who is unlikely to feature in the first-team squad, but is on the wages of a first-team squad member

Then we have a list of lads who could potentially supplement our main group, or we should be sorting loans for - depending on people's views on individuals. This is lads like Beck, Nyoni, Clark, Doak - add others at your leisure.
Now, the first person to respond was yourself and what you said (page 780 I think) was as follows (I'm going to put the most relevant points in bold here) -

    That back line.....

Even the attack after last season isn't very impressive..... unless diaz starts actually being better than theo walcott and jota stays injury free for once and not out half rthe season the midfield isn't exactly the best either compared to others.

I guess we're back to the days of being happy with top 4, is what it is.
You want a stronger squad. Who doesn't? I certainly do - I think we are all united behind that cause.

Is selling what most would consider the weakest of our front six not a good thing? If we want to strengthen the squad, a squad which can only be of a finite size for the 25-man registration, then does it not make sense to sell one of our weaker options (Carvalho in this instance - and if people want to make a case for him that's fine too!) while we continue to attempt to bring in a player that will be better than most of our mids?

I can hardly think of a better way to go about things (move weak links out, bring strong links in) to prevent us from being, in your words "back to the days of being happy with top 4" - surely good business is a good thing?

If it's "Carvalho out, nobody in" then yeah, that will be a problem, but otherwise....?
