I wouldn't mind seeing that for a run of 5-10 games if Gomez is feeling good regarding any past injuries.

Our ability to play a high line with the pace at the back paid dividends for a chunk of our title-winning season.

If it wasn't working under Slot, we simply try a different pairing - though if we play with the sort of compactness that a double-pivot can bring, the centre-backs may be better protected anyway.

I am fascinated to see if we have considerably less (or more, or much the same) injuries this season.

I hope not. We need something that's going to be a long term replacement for Virgil. Quansah is a good prospect but we can't rely on him yet and Gomez is just a god deputy. Not first tem reliability in my opinion.

As things stand Virgil and Quansah will be first choice. I would be ok with that. I think we will bring a centre back in as well.

I believe it's the "weekend" for his decision. I'd hope they've moved in if it's not sorted by tomorrow morning. No time to waste but I haven't read of any other options of he's not the one.

The fact Virgil has said that speaks volumes. Those owners/transfer committee need to pull their fingers out sharpish.
The club captain coming out and basically saying "where the fuck is your ambition".

I find this worrying hearing the club captain calling for signings. This is sounding alarm bells for me. Klopp gone, they bring in a new yes man. New stand finished, need to pay that off. Looks like we’re trying to Offload a lot of players to get the wage bill down. Owners are obsessed with buying new businesses on the cheap. Why haven’t they sorted out the three contracts ?. At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised to see us make just one marquee signing, before the window is shut.
