Yes, it's certainly time for an outlay, for our midfield particularly.
The Modus Operandi of -
- squeezing every last drop out of what we have
- sustainable spending
- finding percentages
- finishing (at least) 4th each season
- is something I am openly (largely) content with as people know, though if I were in charge I'd spend a little more often and would strengthen after major trophy wins to maintain an edge, rather than risk a slip. We saw a calculated gamble (it came off alright but could have gone awry) with the missing centre-back season and now we have a missing midfielder season. Should we finish in the Champion's League spots (I think we will but think it will be tight) then we really need to endeavour to secure our spot there for upcoming seasons and ideally see a title challenge again in 23/24 or 24/25.

we are liverpool football club, not fucking norwich.
Going to have to soon Kev.. took £142 million for a lad at the start of 2018.. That will be 5 years ago any minute. They can't hide much longer. Not with the profits made since that day.. No way. They stump up the dosh that is needed or they fuck off and let someone else try and back the manager
It will happen. They won't like it naturally, but it will happen. Whether or not that's Bellingham/Fernandez remains to be seen, but there are always thresholds getting crossed in football.
I remember we all thought that we would never give out £100,000-per-week in wages and then we finally did for Gerrard.
Then not so long ago we would "never pay £200,000-per-week in wages" and now have Salah on (reportedly) £350,000-per-week before bonuses.
It'll happen. It's a "when" and not an "if" - unless the club is sold before they have to make the move.
A point comes where you have to invest in your asset (not how I personally view the club but that's the lens business people must look through) to maintain the value. The amount of money that comes in via revenue/sponsorship that's affiliated with regular Champion's participation is substantial and they won't want to miss out on it.
That may prove to be true sadly. You get the impression that there are staff at the club who think we are still a 90+ points-per-season beast that is merely experiencing a brief setback rather than ensuring we don't have a drop-off.
That said, if we did inject Bellingham into this side (along with someone else) it's easy enough to envisage a transformative effect occuring - plus we are still getting used to life after Mane (and life with Núñez) whilst dealing with depth issues in forward areas due to injury.
Not quite clicked yet but it very well could with the right player/s - needs to happen mind!
Bet enzo will cost x2 as more now too
