Why is it surprising?

We probably tried to give them 20m + addons if true.

It's funny, Enzo is exactly the type of player that, had we bought him a year ago, some (not all) would argue "need to see him in a better League, this is just FSG being cheap" - there's some amazing talent in the £10m-£20m range even now - just takes some finding and polishing.

Sides like Ajax, Porto, Atletico, Monaco, Dortmund and Benfica have done stellar work in this area.

I think it's less about us getting him the job and more about him engaging in up the bum, job done with the right people to work his way to the top.
