Very happy to discuss signing players, just don't personally see the point in chatting about it within a context of "imagine if FSG did this...." if it's unlikely to happen. So (for example) taking out a £300m loan to bolster our squad or a Man City/Chelsea style "injection" given that these aren't going to happen.

In terms of where the money goes it's signings, wages, agent fees and infrastructure. Annoyingly this information is always out-of-date in terms of the way in which club accounts are released, so we are always having to put guesswork in.

And yes - a club that is free of crippling debts that will have a 60,000-seater stadium and a squad that still has quality players and generates enormous revenue plus huge history will garnish a huge profit. No shit Sherlock.

If you want to be livid at FSG then be my guest. Personally I am more livid with the football governing bodies that have allowed certain clubs to spend money they haven't legitimately earned, to the detriment of the competitive nature of the sport. The vast majority of football club owners are businessmen first so I am not too bothered about owners wanting to sell something at a profit as it's just what I would expect to happen from 99.9% of business people - kind of comes with the territory.

    It is very clever .
About increasing the value if football.
    Create a false market.
Come on £100m for a player
    1 human.
    It is ridiculous.
But the market keeps getting driven up.

Heard of the tulip market (crash) a few hundred years ago ?

    Since 1992 , when football began .

Record transfer fee in England £3.6m Shearer to Blackburn.
    Record wages £10k a week (520k a year)
    John Barnes.

Now it is £100m near enough in 2023.
    And £26m a year.
    £500k a week ( not a year)

    In 30 years .
Be interesting to compare 1962 to 1992.

    So that's x 30 transfer fees
    And x50 wages.

    In 30 years

  4. #1404
Average yearly salary in epl 1992/93
    £77k a year.

  5. #1405
    Denis Law

    £115,000 transfer in 1962.

    X30 roughly to Shearer £3.6m 1992

  6. #1406
    1962 average wage £20 a week.
    £1000 a year.

    1992 £77k a year.
    That's 77x more.

    So in 30 years time.
    2053

    The transfer could be x30more
    wages x50 more.

    So £3billion transfer. 2053
    Wages £15m a week. 2053
    Is that right ??

  7. #1407
Liverpool worth £3 trillion. In 2053.

Think it will reach a wage ceiling at some stage. A euro league probably born in the next 15 years, prem will drop back as a result trajectory or wages and fees drop off accordingly. Think league 1 or 2 for comparison over past 20 years would be interesting, wages definitely would be gone up but transfer spend probably down or only slightly up would be my guess.

Players are costing the bulk of (and sometimes more than) the money generated from a good season in the Champion's League.

Which is not a good thing.

The money has been falsely inflated by pile barons and countries. Without PSG, Chelsea and City there would not have been nearly so much spent on players transfers and wages in the last 10-15 years.
It’s hideous and the ruination of the game.
