To which they can literally say "LMAO, no" and sit and pick up their wages until the end of the season - and now feel disrespected, meaning they have incredibly little incentive to find 100% in a match where you do need them in the match day squad due to rotation and/or injuries.

We can't simply make contracted players leave. In the Summer we can allow a number to leave (Adrian, Melo, Ox, Keita, Milner, Firmino) but that's not much use right now.

Unfortunately, due to poor planning, lack of investment or whatever folks choose to blame, we are stuck with the current squad until the end of the season and must make-do.

Being out of the FA Cup will hopefully give us more chances to prepare on the training pitch. We are absolutely desperate for wins if we are to avoid the remainder of the season becoming a bit of an embarrassment.

So surely Liverpool could have said to Keita or Adrian for example.

If you're Keita on £120,000 per-week do you say "righto, toodles" or do you sit tight and collect income until May?

Of course that's an option, you can even subsidise their remaining six month or years salary loss from moving to a new club, or just delist one from our registered squads if needs be and let them sit out their last 6 months.

Yes, June - my bad.

Presumably a few Chelsea lads will simply be unregistered and unable to play, picking up wages but not participating in matches. Somewhat wasteful, to say the least. Personally think it sets a pretty awful example in the current economic climate but people tend to put blinkers on when it comes to sport.

When it comes to the Champion's League I am pretty sure you can only make 3 changes to your squad - that means that 3 of Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, João Felix, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Noni Madueke will be unable to play in that tournament this season.

There's no limit on how many changes you can make to your Premier League squad that I know of, but you still can't exceed the 25-man limit.

Pep and Cancelo are alleged to have had a huge falling out so from that perspective not necessarily surprising.

A winning goal by Cancelo against Man City during the Champion's League campaign would be a fun sideshow in a Bayern v Man City quarter-final.
