we are liverpool football club, not fucking norwich.
Well, they have endless money potentially depending on whether or not they want to diddle the books to circumnavigate FFP and so on.
There's also zero rush - Newcastle had such poor ownership previously plus they have dealt with relegation. They don't have a generation of fans accustomed to success like Liverpool would have, Man United would have or Man City will have - so there's less fan pressure.
"Evolution not revolution" will do for them - they don't need immediate Champion's League football - finishing 8th-10th for a couple of seasons and aiming to build on that will do for them.
Yes because they evolve and don’t… revolve
On hols but couldn’t resist.
wish we "evolved" but I guess that's losing a top player for Nunez, so great window, the young lad has saved it from being shit.
won't have a team like this again and some players in there prime and a top top manager for a while... not making the most of it.

Left-back Cucurella handed in a transfer request on Friday but it is understood it did not change Brighton’s stance. They want a fee of upwards of £50million (€59.5m, $60.8m).
The south coast club will not discuss any further incremental bid increases, as happened with Ben White when he moved to Arsenal.
This follows City making an offer of £30m for Cucurella after selling Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal. The Athletic has previously reported they are willing to go up to £40m to acquire his services.
Prices of players getting silly isn't helping - you've got lads like Harvey Barnes or James Maddison being talked about as "won't accept less than £60m" which is nuts to me.
We'll definitely see more of the Elliott/Carvalho/Ramsay sort of business to supplement the big "right player is worth it" signings (Núñez, the Tchouameni attempt, likely Bellingham attempt next Summer) but I appreciate that waiting for lads to develop at a time like this isn't for everyone. Problem there then is if you make the "big" signing once too often then those lads get less of a chance to develop, thus you'll need to buy again further down the line as they won't have become good enough to be a squad player and we can't recoup much money because they didn't develop enough. Not to mention keeping everyone happy in terms of minutes.
I'd love that one extra mid (at the expense of Ox mind, not at the expense of Elliott, Jones or Carvalho's long-term position) too but it's a fine balance.
Likely not much to it, but talk of Barcelona wanting Bernardo Silva.
They would presumably need to sell De Jong first to help with the finances (?) but if they did manage to force De Jong out then you never know.
Can't see Man City being willing to sell late in the window and I can't imagine De Jong's sale happening quickly.
Would be intriguing to see if Bernardo Silva DID get sold as it would really weaken Man City at a time when we know they will likely face an adjustment period for a month or two until players get accustomed to Haaland's movements and vice versa as it is.
In their eternal wisdom, Manchester United are apparently ready to offer De Jong an enormous £450,000 per-week salary and pay off the £17m he is owed by Barcelona due to their deferred payment system they have been employing of late.
Rumoured that it would be an initial transfer fee of £56.2m, with a total package in the region of £72m.
Over a 5-year contract he could end up costing them £200m.
That seems a massive commitment when there's no guarantee he will push them into the Champion's League places and once again continues the precedent of a player getting huge wages without earning it at their club.
