French League is generally a little bit cheaper, midfield needs a younger age profile and we won't be able to afford the fees and wages of three well-known English/Homegrown lads - getting (for example) all 3 of Bellingham, Rice and Maddison over the next 2-3 windows is fanciful - but getting one (let's say Bellingham) and one (or two) of the Ligue 1 lads isn't entirely implausible - especially if we think ahead to contracts that we either won't renew, or only renew for short periods - such as Thiago's or Firmino's.

I'd trust our scouting capacity, our Manager's ability to coach them and the depth of talent in this squad my g more so than the set-up back then - but I appreciate the sense of scepticism about shopping from France.

Portuguese League players will rocket in price as ourselves, Man City and Man United express and interest so it would be good to get a couple in from an alternate source while they're still semi-reasonably priced - whether that's France or Italy or Holland.
