Poor again today, got to say a lot of this is on Jurgen and his coaches our use of him and lack of coaching or drills to establish certain movements from him and between him and other players to build understanding and awareness of one another, it is painfully obvious none of that has happened

A lot of us wanted Nunez here, I wanted him here, I did think Mane would still be here aswell so we'd have the time to coach and develop him playing him in numerous roles off the bench, I by no means believed he was the finished article or thought we could automatically ditch the false 9 position and play him up top as an out and out No9 and I didn't expect that at all

Yes he cost lot of money, he cost a lot of money because he is an outstanding talent, with outstanding physical attributes although quite raw, that a lot of other clubs, with coaches who do a lot more technical and tactical coaching than ours do wanted

I have to say, it is our staff we need to be looking at, I am 100% certain almost all other managers and coaching teams, maybe even all of them would have got far more out of Nunez's abilities and developed them and integrated them into their teams far better than ours have managed

Sacking of our right side of last season on the Elliott fantasy really didn't help matters either

I don't expect to or want to see Nunez at No9 again until our manager and coaching team have done the appropriate groundwork, development and integration of that system and Nunez for it to work

He is getting into the right positions to be getting these chances that he hasn't been taking.

I'd be infinitely more worried if he wasn't popping up in the right areas to begin with. Admittedly not a great day at the Office for him once again, but I find myself very relaxed about him overall.

He's been doing that all season though and he's no better than the day he started.

We haven't integrated him well at all if at all and we haven't improved him, he has been getting into those kind of positions less and less in games, today 1 chance, when he got into the right position, rest of the game, nowhere near contributing to the press or counter press without the ball, nowhere near reading the game or anticipating when the ball might come in and adjusting his position to intimate where he wants the ball and to make a run to arrive onto it in a position from which he can finish

He isn't helped by the terrible fuck up we've made of everything else

Had Jurgen started this season with Thiago as the LCM controller as he played most of last and with the Trent, Mo and Hendo combo on our right, so there was continuity in all areas of our play bar the one position we played Nunez in, and had we played him and given him minutes across LFWD RFWD False 9 and 9 we'd have a player integrated and with a lot more goals right now and wouldn't be relying on the filthy's and Newcastle's inevitable bottle jobs to get top four

"If it aint broken don't fix it" including in any proposed evolution, add to what already works so you're not breaking anything, build on what already works, the wise man built his house upon the rocks and all that, don't just rip up the model and effectively start from scratch, that's an absolute nonsense, except, that's exactly what we've done, and not just once, at least 3 times this season already, what a fucking cock up

The absolutely mind boggling thing about it is had we been somehow found out and been struggling for results you could understand it, but we hadn't been at the point of any of the needless and disruptive changes since the back end of 19-20

It all looks like it's been done to try and follow Jurgens 4231 fantasy with Thiago making the play, trying to reconstruct, reshape and rebuild your entire Champions League and Premier League winning team and ethos around a 31 year old injury prone show pony who was one of two playmakers in the other teams he played in, with the others playmakers being the chief one, with shades of trying to copy whatever Guardiola and City are doing also

Again, we handed City their arse in 19-20, teams knew wha twe did tried to stop us and consistently failed, there was still loads of room for evolution with the players already at the club, still is, loads of things we can still improve on in our 433 what the FUCK have we been doing for 3 seasons including this one? It sure as shit hasn't been evolution

He needs to improve further, but I think his all comps record this season for us is 15 goals, 4 assists in 41 appearances - and a number of those appearances haven't been starts.

If he is contributing to a goal (via a goal or assist) at a rate of 1-in-2 over the course of a season in his first year with room to improve in a side with further scope to become better then I'll take encouragement from it.

Hopefully next season with an improved midfield unit we will see the side look better in both attack and defence.

    Stats stats stats

when you get that many chances, even you would take some sid.

Worrying people saying he's better on the left, that's where Diaz lives..... we need a outright striker who's clinical

Needs coaching more than most of our others, needs to work a lot on his own on his finishing needs the team to get back to having an established pattern or at least some established patterns of play he can take cues and triggers for better movement and timed runs off

I think the complete lack of those things in this scatter gun of a season hasn't helped him

But he STILL has 15 goals and 4 assists

Better than Mane & Suarezs first season iirc.

The red card caused a media shitstorm around him, then he got dropped out of the side having popped up with a few more goals and assists.

His finishing needs to improve and should as he settles down.

Suarez was in an absolute toilet of a team to be fair. Still won a trophy though.

I find it tough to believe that Nunez is scoring more than a handful in that side playing the Luis role.
