Our last No9 was hardly prolific

    In my eyes, Klopp's take on the strikers (not including the AM role of Gakpo) in order is;

    1) Salah
    2) Núñez
    3) Jota
    4) Diaz
    5) Gakpo

    Exactly.

My comments were not to dismiss him. He is effective, but as Pob said he's never going to be a prolific goalscorer.

Which is all well and good now, but a future without salah, the goals will need to come from somewhere.

Not many out there that can score often as a RWF

Very true. And if Darwin is equally as effective as Bobby during games (in a different way to Bobby) then his goal scoring wont be an issue, as it wasn't an issue with the smiling Brazilan.

Again, very much like Heskey. He did a lot of other stuff during games to facilitate Owen.

There's always someone else to step in.

    Keegan > Dalglish > Rush > Fowler > Owen > Torres > Suarez > Salah > etc.

Yeah.. but a right winger that scores goals like salah?

Either a prolific striker.... or find a gem from somewhere that scores goals for fun on the right (Change of system if a prolific striker) i guess.

Yep Salah will be hugely tough to replace. Not like replacing an orthodox forward. See what happened after Barnes had peaked… Think we will be looking at a system change there.

Would require a clinical striker like a Torres or a one man demolition squad ala Luis Suarez. Neither will come cheap…

Why wouldn't ye compare a £65m striker wi' anither striker? Ah ken they're different types o' players bit goals count in that role.

Ah lik' Nunez bit he needs tae be mair clinical.

    Suarez is now 36 in 2023 & Darwin is 24 in 2023

12 years ago rougly speaking in 2011/12 Suarez was at Liverpool.

    11/12 Scored 17 assisted 9 in 3,254 minutes
    10/11 Scored 16 assisted 16 in 3,213 minutes
    9/10 Scored 49 assisted 21 in 4,101 minutes
    8/9 Scored 28 assisted 19 in 3,806 minutes
    7/8 Scored 22 assisted 14 in 3,317 minutes
    6/7 Scored 15 assisted 10 in 2,929minutes
    5/6 0 in 116 mins
    4/5 0 in 5 mins

    Scored 147 assisted 89 in 20,741 minutes
Goal or Assist per 87.9 minutes

He joined Ajax in 2007/08 his first big club.

    Darwin
    23/24 Scored 7 assisted 6 in 957 minutes
Goal or Assist per 73.6 minutes

Total Scored 90 assisted 32 in 12,278 minutes
Goal or Assist per 100.6 minutes

He joined Benfica in 2020/21 his first big club.

    Suarez went on to

    12/13 Scored 30 assisted 13 in 3,720 minutes
Goal or Assist per 86.5 minutes

    13/14 Scored 31 assisted 19 in 3,249 minutes
Goal or Assist per 65 minutes

Darwin at his current rate in 2023/24 season, should he hit 3,000 minutes..
    Would score 22 & Assist 19

He needs to play more and get the time to mature.
