Champions League final chaos leaves French government with ‘many regrets’

    • Michel Cadot says it was ‘an important failure that damages us’
    • He insists use of teargas ended up being only viable response

The French government official investigating the chaos at the Champions League final in Paris in which police used teargas and pepper spray against Liverpool fans admitted there were “many regrets” over what happened but said preparations had been robust.
Michel Cadot, the sports ministry’s delegate on major events, said those involved in planning for the match – including the French Football Federation and the police – had acted in a “strong and satisfactory” manner, but admitted the occasion was “an important failure that damages us”.

Absolute shambles, seeming lack of communication between various agencies, attempted cover-up/whitewash.
It wasn't as if they only had a few days to prepare for the final.
Looking at the Euros final at Wembley recently, maybe the French thought our supporters were the same as those that ran riot at Wembley.
There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief

Saw the passage about deletion of cctv. Yes ok to delete after a time , questionably if no incidents. but it appears that these images were deleted after 30 hours After the shambles. The testimony given particularly by the officer who admits his participation is shocking. It seems they await further testimony. Thankfully cctv is a mere drop in the ocean to what the public now record.
France are only concerned about their image, not what happened to our fans . We’ll see and hope LFC continue their claims on behalf of all involved.

Wonder if anyone will make financial claims for losses, theft, mugging, assault etc.
That would be interesting if it went ahead.
People these days only appear to take notice if being hit in the pocket!
