We have been desperately needing midfield investment and we get nothing in January. It shows the bottom line is more important to FSG than anything else

What has happened in the past 1-2 years to us?

We were pretty damn good in the transfer market - gone
Decent with injuries bar the CB fiasco - gone
Even when the team was tired the work rate and ethic was there - gone
Tactical variation and the odd surprise selection - gone

Honestly while Last season was tough, most of the team didn't play in the world cup, or had bit roles. Even this season we have pretty decent breaks. Many of the other teams were in the same position as us.

No, not at all - but I do think we can expect a few more disappointing results in the coming weeks and thus the ill feeling, negativity, groaning etc to become even worse before things turn around.

I don't (for example) think we suddenly beat Everton and Newcastle back-to-back which is what would be required to lift spirits.

All a bit 09/10 just now, except we probably get a lower total points tally this time around. Still - we'll see.

4 points from the next two games would be huge. Arguably better to draw with Everton and win at Newcastle

while Klopp said "this team has a wonderful history", he added "one of the main reasons" he signed new contract until 2026 was because he knew there would be a period of transition.

"The way that this club is led is by not splashing the money. Our transfers always have to be on point. That makes it really tricky," he said.

"We cannot make four transfers before we know who will leave the club and these kind of things.

"Last year was not a season for a big change. We played until the last moment and, if you want to change at this club, we cannot just bring in players and realise later that no-one wants to leave. It doesn't work like that.

"It's not possible to start it early because we have final after final, played the season until the last minute, played the Champions League final, then we had a short break, then a lot of injuries and then the World Cup."

    Sums it up well.

Without naming Keita, and Oxlade specifically, that was the key .... those 2 didn't want to leave.

So without them 2 or 4 players moving on, klopp had his hands tied.

    Unlike Chelsea.

Yep, it shows just what a man he is. That he would potentially dilute his legacy, suffering through a slow transition to build another squad, hopefully capable of winning the big prizes again.

I would add though, that I don't believe Pep or Ferguson, or Ancelotti would have got close to 97 and 99 points - with our 2018-20 squads.

In short, any squad Klopp builds, would ideally be managed by him. His motivational abilities will be almost impossible to replicate.

Jurgen his coaching and analysis staff are yet to implement proper coaching and analysis to take this group of players to the much higher levels they are capable of, what became their peak in 19-20 should have been nowhere near it, there was so much capacity for far greater growth and evolution'building on' and further evolving on what we already did better than anyone else Jurgen failed to do that plain and simple

Complacency self congratulation and a lazy half baked half arsed approach to tweaks and signings have become Jurgen's speciality since he brought Fab back into the side in 2020 coupled with a staggering arrogance of persistently picking players who let us down and their team mates down to disastrous effect far too many times before, like picking Gomez and Fab to start v Real

He has much to do to save his legacy as to date he has been a Shankly and a Souness as a manager, becoming a Souness through his half baked half arsed attempts to become a Paisley, he's a very fucking long way from that right now

Jurgen is a inspirational 'EL CID' manager capable of creating belief and confidence in even average players. On this forum numerous players have been picked out as below Liverpool standard. Yet with his cavalier style he has produced magic since he started , everyone hangs on his word, his success has been outstanding (with the players he has ) also considering injuries and management (transfer stagnation). BUT......
When either, teams come up with a strategy or the style does not work it needs to be altered until the style can be resumed.
It is this that is his Achilles Heel, there seems to be no plan B.
Any who looks at our over exposed defense week in week out should see we need organization at the back. We cannot continue with two at the back getting run ragged. Two wing backs are not two full backs, two wing backs require at least two defensive minded midfielders.
OK some players are under performing, this will and has always has been the case in every team. But a manager or a coach must adapt to the team you are playing on the day, not during the previous week. I hope and pray it works out through intelligent coaching , personally I have seen no evidence of it recently.
