Match Thread : Newcastle v Liverpool

    Liverpool starting XI

    Alisson

    TAA
    Matip
    VVD
    Robertson

    Szoboszlai
    Endo
    Mac Allister

    Salah
    Gakpo
    Diaz

Substitutes: Kelleher, Gomez, Núñez, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Bajcetic, Doak, Quansah

Good balance on paper but which Matip will we see??

So despite clearing out a number of sicknotes in the summer, we still have Jones, Thiago and Konate to keep the medical team busy.

Interesting to see Endo make his first start, good to see Bajcetic on the bench, Jota unlucky to miss out.

Need to avoid defeat, to stop a main rival from getting three points, not sure we’re quite ready to go there and win.

I have a feeling endo will get physically dominated.... trent will get run ragged, and we're going to be crying by half time and telling FSG to get out

I dare say you're right. I hope trent stays more right in this game. Matip can't cover the way Konate does.

If our forwards and midfield aren't on it today it could be a pasting.

That will happen even if we’re 3-0 up.

    Come on the Reds. 2-1.

    I quite like that team.
Endo's physical tenacity is one of his strongest points.
Hope Matip has a good game.
I like the midfield 3 and that front 3 is our best option I think.

On that last line, bit surprised Klopp went with Gakpo over Jota today. I'd have gone with Nunez myself. Pace to blitz them as they seem intent on putting in a performance after their display v city.

I’d like to see Nunez get some decent minutes in the 2nd half, last 25+

I think we're a great bet at 2/1. Beat these and put them back in their box

Nunez was sharp in pre-season. He could have an impact today. Along with Jota and Bajcetic on the bench we have real quality to call on if needed.
