pathetic takes him 10 chances, what the fuck was that? a 5m player from lower teams would score more the amount of chances he has

    waste of money
If you can point out a £ 5m player that can get in the positions Nunez does then please share your infinite wisdom and knowledge.

Gomez was excellent today, both with and without the ball. But I still dont want to see him coming into the middle of the pitch. There's just no need for it. Especially when Matip brings the ball out of defence.

    Baffling.

Still, an all round decent performance from the lads.

Next 3 League matches will define our season.

    Tottenham (a)
    Brighton (a)
    Everton (h)

We'll see what we're about by the end of October.

Núñez has 3 goals and an assist in 6 League games. Scored from the penalty spot as well in the Europa League.

What I love about him is he doesn't seem to let the misses annoy him particularly. He misses what many would consider a gilt-edged chance today and then scores the much more difficult deft volley.

He's doing great so far this season. More to come from him.

Just a quick note on squad depth.

Bajcetic didn't find himself able to get a spot on the bench despite the absence of Thiago due to injury.

It will be interesting to see whether or not we do indeed buy someone in January ahead of the likely Thiago departure if we find our rate of injury looks to be improving. We have Bajcetic to develop, want Elliott and Jones to get plenty of minutes and Gravenberch will be needing games as well. That's before factoring in Max Allister, Szoboszlai and Endo - or indeed Thiago hopefully having a few top performances left in him before his eventual departure.

It's a nice problem to have.

Squad depth is generally good but we do need to go big to bring in a CB, to do the job Virgil used to do, as he no longer can.
Konate is too fragile and Quansah though a very good prospect is still very young to be first pick CB every week.

They'll be a good Barometer of what we're capable of - I think a lot of Reds are still trying to figure out if we are a side that's off to a good start but a couple of injuries away from a mad scrap for 4th spot in the dying embers of the season, or if we are a unit that is beginning to purr and can mount a title challenge.

I still think it will be Man City winning the League in the end. Rather dull in that sense. Though the Domestic Cups, Europa League, attempts at Champion's League qualification and the further development of the younger lads in what looks a really intriguing side that is set up differently to the workman-like midfield of Henderson-Wijnaldum-Milner with Salah-Firmino-Mane ahead of it means we still have plenty of points of interest for the season irrespective of what Pep's lot do.

Doh Sid… We’ve been here before and you really should know how this can roll out. We have a tiny squad. If you are once again just listing names in the middle as some barometer of quality in depth, you are missing the proverbial by a country mile mate. Elliott, Jones and Endo…. Squad players - Stefan is a literally a child. Mac Allister - does look class and is full of promise BUT - to date - we have fared better without him - often after going down to 10 men…. Gravenberch a young prospect with great potential but much to prove. Klopp has shown - if it needed explanation - that the personal in the middle of the park is largely incidental to how his teams function. Any high intensity group is capable of facilitating the attack in his setup. As I have often said - a better player than Hendo and we win double the major titles.

Regardless… A very decent start to the season results wise BUT we have ridden our luck on many occasions. In many of the losing scenarios we’ve found ourselves in we are not taking 3 points - and the mood would be quite different.

The double edged sword…. What is great is the whiff these victories have of the mentality monster wins of the title season BUT they are also worryingly reminiscent of the ones at the back end of the Quad season.

It’s been good to see the lads dig in and turn losing positions around - and much of that has been WITH an abundance of attacking players available (unlike this time last season) - but it won’t continue for long unless we become better across the full span of a 90 minute game.

Some big tests await.. The season is long and our defensive options are limited.

Not that you have said anything wrong as such BUT I feel that I will have to keep trying to reverse the fate you seem so determined to tempt.

We have lowballed the market. Don’t forget it just because Szoboszlai looks like the player we never had under Jurgen.
