If memory serves they finished second to Leicester in....was that 15/16? Then after that they had a run from 16/17 up to and including....would it be 20/21(?) or so where they were constantly missing out on Champion's League football and dealing with trying to get rid of some aging/over-paid players.

As much as I agree with you, I think going so long thinking that your club might be "done" (at least for a while) at the higher level only for it to be followed with a side that looks young and fresh with the capacity to challenge for stuff must feel great.

Even when we were slipping away in 09/10 and having a terrible time in 10/11 we got a club legend back to lift the mood which broke up the negativity a little, then we had a genuine title challenge in 13/14 - or indeed if we look at Man United they would fail to qualify for the Champion's League but get far in the Europa and get a Champion's League season to break things up a bit.

Arsenal had 5(?) seasons straight of thinking that the Champion's League spots had been locked, while their historic rivals were consistently outperforming them. Just imagine we were finishing 5th-8th with more "new money" clubs about and Everton were a well-run club regularly finishing above us - it'd be rough.

I think some of the intensity of Arsenal's "over-celebrating" comes with the release of that weight that only recently fell from their shoulders.

It’s a fair point. For the record I feel exactly the same as you. I don’t know why but I just cannot stand them. For me every point they gain hurts.

When I call them the Arse I say it with true feeling. They are a pain in the backside.

Zero pressure put on them by Everton from the kick off. Great finish but wasn't hit at a great pace and taller keeper with longer arms might have got something on it.
