I agree re unconscious bias Bob, however that in itself pretty much results in conspiracy of a sort, albeit unconscious

I dont have a bias against conspiracy theories, I just find it hard to believe, but happy to accept it if the evidence of the conspiracy at play is irrefutable, whereas I do not find it hard to believe that unconscious bias may be responsible / more likely.
I dont think this is an unreasonable position to take…

Interesting slant…however, under careful consideration I think not..
Definitions…
Conspiracy Theory : A secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.
Unconscious Bias : Unconscious bias is when we make judgments or decisions on the basis of our prior experience, our own personal deep-seated thought patterns, assumptions or interpretations, and we are not aware that we are doing it.
We will have to agree to disagree on this one, but I think we can all agree on what underpins both of the above theories, Referees in general are simply not good and as a result of Var are becoming less able to think clearly and laterally with any ounce of common sense.
Overthinking even the most clear cut decisions, culminating in the fact that a players foot planted into a players chest, in the penalty even under close analysis of VAR is now seen as acceptable, and yet slightly mistiming a tackle under genuine attempt to win the ball is seen as a stone wall yellow card, or worse a second yellow.
It is this unfathomable level of decision making that is driving all the theories of Conspiracy and Unconscious bias… tbh I am starting to lose faith in any level of common sense returning to the Refereeing fraternity any time soon.
Rant over.

Howard Webb supporting the failure to give a penalty against Doku.
Quelle surprise.
Absolute comedy gold, I am sorry but that speaks volumes about the whole set-up, its so broken its laughable.
Howard Webb needs to go along with all of his other cronies, they are clearly not capable of policing themselves..
Only a root and branch change from top to bottom, will ensure the changes that are clearly required, are actually carried out for the good of the game.
They really have all lost the plot . 🫣🤣
Fernandes should have probably been sent off in the game at the weekend.. But i didnt have much issue with it.Because i thought the referee had an excellent game. Its the blatant calls that pisses me off. and we have been robbed constantly all season. How does Howard Webb answer to that?? the guy has always had it in for us. even when he officiated our matches.. Previous to him, It was Mike Riley and he was the same when it comes to LFC. bunch of deceitful shitters
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
Pretty much like the Forest debacle, little or no mention of the Forest player almost taking off Konates head with a reckless high boot, totally missed by VAR and the media / pundit coverage, hence no card.
The potential ankle breaking challenge on Gravenberch by Caicedo, dismissed by media and pundits deemed no foul and no card issued.
Fernandes reckless lunge into Dom S as he was striking the ball, foulf given but deemed not worthy of second yellow card.
And yet less than two mins later Gomez wins the ball, Utd player screams and falls over, foul given and yellow card issued.
Prior to Anthony goal, Rashford is directly behind Virgil, clearly offside unbeknown to Big Virg so he feels he has to defend the pass, which he does but ball goes back to Utd and in the same phase of play, Utd score 20 seconds later, VAR check, no offside given las minute goal stands
In the Arsenal game, Havertz runs into Konate and a foul gived and deemed worthy of a second yellow card.
I am sure there are a lot more match changing incidents that I have just forgotten, tbh I am like Klopp so over it its not worth getting worked up about it any more it is what it is, the nutters are in charge.
However, the next person that says LiVARpool to me, I just might drill the c**t.
So far so good.
This is where it all falls off the rails for most people. Poor decisions and bad judgement are not the same as a conspiracy but lots of fans are incapable of distinguishing them from one another. That's not aimed at you directly just a general statement.
That's why we have so many conspiracy clowns.
VOTE JOCKY tae fix this fiasco.
The only question (forget the penalty area) is was it a foul on Alex Mac, if you use the criteria of contact or dangerous high boot or showing studs or out of control tackle. Take the norm of any hand flick to the head , shirt pull etc.
Overwhelmingly the worlds footy fans would give a foul.
So what happened , well no foul by ref........why.
VAR looked at it and no foul...... why.
Mr Webb discusses it and supports the above clear and obvious error .
The reason is because it was so late in the game and it was in the penalty area.
Too much pressure on a enormous decision, they bottled it.
Now they have to support themselves and use different points of view to justify a monumental error.
When I say they I mean Refs and VAR, they have to, or admit incompetence.
Covering the own pay days maybe, but conspiring to justify a obvious wrong.
We need a better system , maybe jury system to make rapid judgement calls on the spot as it happens to take the burden off people who cannot stand the pressure.
