It's probably because he's just a kid that's come out of nowhere and expected to be good enough for the first team, not his fault.

He's probably not good enough or will be good enough in the future to be a main starter, he's no VVD and when VVD leaves noone can hide behind the big man, we need 2 proper good cbs.

I think he looks like he will be a very good player,only his first season in the prem so don't want to be too critical of him.
