@Insidious
I know we are one of the clubs with the highest wage bills. With that being the case it comes as no surprise that we've been more successful recently than we had been dating back to the start of the PL, especially when combined with having a top class manager.
My post was just illustrating to Jinky that as much as footballer's wages are exorbitant, unfortunately unless we want to go back to fighting for scraps, we have no choice but to be prepared to pay what quality and in demand players are asking for.
Unfortunately if you want to regularly compete for the big prizes, you have to be prepared to pay the big bucks in terms of both fees and wages, as well as being prepared to hand out contract lengths that these players find acceptable.
In football you have to be prepared to take risks when it comes to attracting and keeping players. Unlike sports such as baseball where stats tend to translate much better when transfering from one team to another, when it comes to football there is much more risk involved as there are more variables involved when transfering from club to club e.g. is the new team playing in a different country, what style of league is it, how many games might you end up playing, what style of play does your new team play etc. Unfortunately for us this kind of risk is much less palatable to the likes of FSG who are businessmen who tend to make decisions based almost entirely on pure numbers.
How we fare in the next few seasons is going to depend on how many players we let go, who exactly we let go, and who we replace them with. If we let go of too many players, or too many of our current key, or reasonably important players, the more we're likely to have issues maintaining our recent competitiveness.
Some are saying that this summer is going to be interesting. Personally I am waiting with trepidation for the summer transfer window to open, namely because I don't trust FSG when it comes to our transfer activity. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if we lose more than one of our key players, as well as a fair few others which may include one or two other current first eleven players.
Yep...
Not sure what to believe though.. See below..

I honestly don't take much notice of him, he's an FSG shill through and through. He never dares say anything against them and defends them regularly in order to preserve what I imagine he thinks is insider status.
I find it hard to believe we would be paying out more than Utd and Chelsea especially.
Banner protest at the palace game, "handover our money to help us retain.the league FSG". Or "Hughes, what is it you do?"
So... looks like it's just the 2 Amigos..
Is it a case of 1 down.. 2 to go?
