    The Three Amigos

OK so with what is being leaked about the three contract extensions, a picture is starting to emerge about what exactly is going on with two of them.

    Virgil.
This one appears to be very close, they are agreed on money, the hold up has been about an optional additional year, which seems to be very close to being agreed.

    Mo
What has been circulating about Mo is that he would be happy with the same money and is ok with the length of contract being offered but the club appears to be only offering a pay cut, which Mo is seeing as disrespectful and wants his worth.

    Trent
Most seen to think he’s off to Real and it’s almost a done deal.
However… many sources have said his first focus on Liverpool. No rift on salary is being suggested but Trent’s line appears to be, he wants to see the club’s ambition matching his own.

Now this has got me thinking about what exactly he means by that and I wonder if it is closer to home than wanting to see new signings.

I think he could be waiting to see if the club looks after possibly the two most important players in the squad. If they don’t get what they want (and if the above is true that doesn’t sound extortionate to me) he may say f**k you then and walk. Look at Salah’s numbers, just extend his contract ffs.

Klopp’s squad grew very close during his time here and that will also be part of it.

I just hope the club does the right thing, though funnily enough, more because I don’t want to lose Virgil and Mo rather than Trent himself.

If mo goes, fsg can go too. because it'll be criminal to lose him on a free

Mo will if they offer the same money for his extension but I don’t see. Trent staying if they don’t look after the other two.

Just my hunch from what I have read from multiple sources over recent weeks.

If anyone thinks or knows different, let’s hear it

Needs to get sorted before the last day of the year.. all 3 can speak to other clubs in Europe/or middle east after that
My issue is with these greedy bastards at our club . Is i could see where Saudi Arabia comes in with a huge offer for Salah and the club take it..Doesn't matter he's leading us to the title or helping us massively .
I think Virg will sign on for longer. and the ball is in Trent's court to see what he wants to. I don't blame the club on him personally

How are you reading the “club needs to show it matches his ambition,” line?

I mean, if it’s about signing up Mo and Trent he has a point and if it’s about bringing in top level reinforcements he also has a point.

I don't think its about showing ambition when it comes to any of the 3.. Least of all Trent.. he knows we have a very good squad and will add more to it with quality.. we only signed Chiesa in the summer. so there surely needs to be additions.
I just think he wants to go to be with "Madrid" and his mate Bellingham. But im only speculating i don't know whats in his head.

Maybe he sees what everyone else sees, and hardly any money spent on the squad year in year out?

Hopefully that’s what the hold up with Trent is all about and if he does go for that reason then I won’t blame him.

I think I'm on the same page as many others when it comes to whether these three players will sign new contracts or not.

In terms of importance I think Virgil's and Mo's contracts are much more important than Trent's. Of the three I think Trent is the most likely to be off in the summer.

I'd be surprised if Virgil doesn't sign a new contract. In terms of FSG possibly (I'd say almost certainly) not wanting to give Mo a new contract on the same money, they could always offer him a target and bonus based contract i.e. give him a bit less than what he's on now, but if he meets certain targets he gets more than he would have done if FSG had just agreed to his original 'basic wage'. I know that players would generally be reluctant to sign such a deal, but this type of contract could end up working out for both parties.

In terms of Trent, only he will know what he means when he talks about the club's level of ambition. If he's talking about the club needing to sign a load of top quality players, given what we know and have seen from FSG I think that will definitely mean he's off in the summer.
