Liverpool FC can announce Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract that will keep him with the club beyond the 2024-25 season.

According to Romano, VvD also close to signing a 2 yr deal.

Let's be honest these 2 was always very much likely to sign on... shouldn't have took so long but is what it is.

even FSG aren't that stupid without these 2 we'd be fucked replacing trent and working on other areas in squad.... and then replacing salah and vvd somehow all in one window ? we'd be fucked

probably end up with doak on the right wing next season if that happened or players out of place.

As much as I'd rather he extended than depart, I don't think he will be as important to Slot as he was to Klopp, so I feel his loss would arguably have the least impact of the three.

It's easy for us to say "just extend, 3 year-deals, improved wages" etc but the club has to decide whether Van Dijk and Salah are going to be worth the wages and the contract length they'll want at the ages and physical states they're going to be at, which isn't all that simple. Players typically reach a stage where they are providing a depreciating level of output and you don't want players that aren't at their peak on huge wages.

Imagine they extend for 3 years.

    25/26
    26/27
    27/28

I'm very confident that both Salah and Van Dijk would be excellent in 25/26 and (probably) 26/27, but many of us (?) I imagine would be less certain about the 27/28 season for example. They'll still be very good players - of course they will - but will they be Premier League-winning, Champion's League-winning level? Tough call - and paying lads in decline the bulk of Ł700k-per-week (combined) wouldn't be desirable if that came to pass.

Trent is at a different spot in his career, so with him it's closer to "does he or doesn't he" want to stay.

I suspect Van Dijk gets done around the Ł300k-per-week mark and Salah around Ł400k-per-week. Length of contract will be the sticking points in negotiations you'd think - our risk-averse policy lends itself to 2-year deals, whilst the players will want 3-year deals.
    Not a million miles off.

Feels good that Van Dijk and Salah are done, really does.

Agree. Relief in a way. We've secured our two most important players and it's a big thing despite not being "new" arrivals.

I genuinely think there is half a chance that the 3rd Amigo still might re-sign.

After watching Real Madrid’s complete lack of class on and off field last night as they were losing and eventually lost, Trent might need to reconsider his future too.

I think the Sales pitch of Real Madrid doesn’t really match up to the reality… a team full of entitled pricks if you ask me, including Bellingham, his behaviour towards his fellow England teammates left a lot to be desired too.

If Trent sees that and still wants to be a part of that spoilt entitled way of thinking and behaving, maybe they both actually deserve each other…

But yes fucking great news on the VVD front, hopefully they can now start playing like deserved champions rather than a team that has lost all sense of belief and confidence ..🤞
