Ha, Ronaldo is 40 in a month's time...

Yes I know that, but I don't count the league he is in now. But at 35 he was still in Europe banging em in. I should have made that clearer.

Obviously if there was a guarantee that Mo would keep his current level for the next 2 seasons then giving him what he wants is a no brainer. But that’s by no means a given and so we go back to my original point.

I want to have Mo stay at the club for as long as possible but it’s a lot more complex than most seem to accept.

That logic could be applied to any player though. There is no guarantee any player keeps their form.

Of course it's complex, but to not have an offer by January when he is free to speak to others isn't a not good sign that we will reach agreement. When he is saying we are far away, again not a good sign.

Behind it all maybe he has no intention of staying no matter what we offer. None of us know really. So all the club can do is offer him a contract and let him reject it.

As far as we know they’ve all had offers. As yet there are no agreements.

There are probably games being played by all sides. As you say we’ll never know what’s really happening.

In terms of player form, history suggests that over 30 it will fall off a cliff at some point. So it becomes a matter of risk and reward. It’s easy to be risky with other people’s money.

Ya it's risky. But looking at how he takes care of himself and his output in creating and scoring. It's worth the risk imo, even if it was my money.

Trent Alexander-McManaman if he leaves on a free. That would suggest he and his agent had it planned for ages, just as with Mbappe. Same destination for both.

Sounds like nothing is confirmed yet but we'll know either way pretty soon.

My question would be why are only offering him a new contract in December 2024. Why wasn't a contract offered in January 2024? Looks like poor planning from the club.

Whatever about FSG OUT, this is still poor planning by the club.
