You’d hope that the club and his agent are in talks.
FSG can’t make the same mistake twice. They screwed the Red Sox by letting older players leave.

If the club haven't offered him anything yet, that's the bigger shocker here. What a message to your best player. Ya we want you to stay, but we won't offer anything until the last minute before other clubs offer you something.
Then say, we couldn't match any of those offers.
Times ticking..... In january some club will offer him better wages than we'll ever do.... and FSG and co are still pissing about, would you blame him for going, fuck this? Same with VVD
"If" - none of us know. I would certainly be bitterly disappointed if that was the case, but I am not automatically rushing to the conclusion that we don't want to sign him up. We know how the club is under FSG in general terms when a player is above the age of 30, yet we turned down a Ł150m bid for him. So whilst we can't rule out "John's being tight" etc there are other nuances around this -
- Maybe we haven't offered him anything.
- Maybe we are at an impasse with him and his agent as to how many years we extend by.
- Maybe we are "feeling out" the agent first before laying down our proposal.
- Maybe Hughes, whose task the contract negotiations will be, isn't great at his job, having not dealt with a player of Sarah's stature in the game.
- Maybe Edwards has encouraged Hughes not to pursue a renewal at all.
- Maybe, whilst we weigh up how Salah might age compared to Ronaldo, the data nerds feel Salah will have a drop-off like De Bruyne, Gundogan, Walker or Trippier and the contract lads are having a prolonged debate with the data lads.
- Maybe Edwards has looked ahead to the PSR restrictions that are looming large and is hesitant about other players asking for wage increases after 1-3 of Salah, Van Dijk or Trent extend.
- Maybe all or none of the above is true.
There's nothing wrong with people putting forward the idea that it's as simple as FSG being "tight" - knock yourselves out - but people need to be open to the idea that issues are often nuanced as well.
So Salah is lying? Salah has said himself that he is disappointed that there hasn't been an offer.
Everything you said is plausible. Data nerds looking at data? Just look at salah this year and last. No sign of him slowing. A 2 year offer would be safe enough I reckon.
Also, your point on fsg and contract renewals is exactly why we will never consistently win things. They care more for finances.
